ZippyVR6 0 Posted February 13, 2007 Right then, The engine needs a bit of TLC and a major service, my guy has said I should get the parts needed. Im just wondering if I have got all the things I need on my list and as ever bow down to the knowledge harnessed in the engine bay forum. Please let me know if there is anything Ive missed out. Plugs, 6 NGK Platinum Oil, 6 litres of Synta Silver Oil filter ? Whatever GSF recomend ? Air filter. None needed although the K&N could do with a clean. HT Leads, Beru ones? for a Dizzy VR. Other things needed. carb cleaner for the ISV Front Mount, Standard VAG one, (Not fussed with solid mounts). anything else I will need?

JayGT 0 Posted February 13, 2007 Fuel filter? Distributor Cap? Rotor Arm?
Guest Posted February 13, 2007 Now I don't really have a clue, I just go with what Stealth and Vince say but.... they dont recommend VAG front mounts and if you were taking it there they would fit a Vibratechnics. I'm sure others on here can explain why they are better than VAG!!! Good luck with the final bill.
Supercharged 2 Posted February 13, 2007 Yeah, even a new standard mount is too soggy really for the VR and won't help gearchanges etc - when they let go they stick a nice dent in the bonnet!
tonedef 10 Posted February 13, 2007 Another vote for the VT front mount here too, I fitted that and followed the instructions on the Deisel Geek website for setting up their short shift kit (even though I use the standard shift) and cured the baulky selection of 1st and 2nd. Gearchange is still a long throw when I've been driving the S3 all week but it's way slicker 8)
ZippyVR6 0 Posted February 14, 2007 Im thinking that fitting a solid front mount will inevitably cause more stress on the rear mount, and when I spoke to Vince about one he quoted me upwards of 150 quid. The VAG one is 26 + VAT. Besides the VW one has lasted 14 years. I only need to fit a new one because it is weeping.
