Chrome badges/Chroming plastic?

Recommended Posts

I know its really hard to get replacement rear "corrado" script badges now, especially in UK and for under £50

i have often thought about getting a couple of badges re-chromed, found a few companies like this one below:

http://www.dmsplastics.co.uk/eplating_services.html

but it hardly seems worth them going to the effort for 1 or 2 badges, has anyone ever considered this? or invested any prices before?

Prehaps we could get interest in getting a bulk batch done? i dunno

There's some chrome spray availabe from teh guys who make radiator spry paint. Dont know how good it would be though, but i guess you can chrome spray and then lacquer them?

These guys http://www.autopaintfx.com/main.aspx from this post http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=58168 may have the stuff you need in a can?

I've sprayed mine plenty of times (the rear one - the front's still okay) but never managed to get a good chrome-like result - let me know if you mangage to pull it off.

Alternatively, I believe the rounded VW badge from the Passat fits and doesn't look half bad on the Corrado.

Give the AutopaintFX stuff a go looks pretty good and comes in rattle cans...

Only problem is it could get additive and you'd end up with a Chrome Rado (like the GTO demo car!)....

Now how much of a pain would that be to follow in the sun/at night?!

£40 for a badge seems stupid to me still, i'd pay up to £10 or £15, but anything more i'd feel like an idiot :(

If you mean the VW badge on the back panel its the same as the one from a mk3 polo and is still available.
