Ice White Socks 0 Posted November 6, 2003 Hello, just a niggle really. Have had the car back from the bodyshop after an accident repair which involved having a new door fitted. Everyting works just fine except the sealing strip on the bottom of the window doesn't fit tightly enough against the glass. Its not flapping about or anything its just I can see water streaming down the window and going into the door. It looks like the correct part- is it worth taking it back? and if so, how will they be able to put it right?. Cheers
Supercharged 2 Posted November 6, 2003 Its probably one of those things that If you take it off, It will never go back on like it was before, they may be able to heat it or use some sealant to make it fit better but its probably best just to replace it - especially as its a Storm! I would take it back to them, if it was an insurance job they should have budgeted for parts like that and the car should be at least as good as it was before the accident. Tattie 0 Posted November 6, 2003 Just for info, a new part for that is around a 100 quid!!!!!! You need two parts and then it has to be 'built up' somehow. Stealers commented on how much trouble they had doing it on another repair. So IMHO get them to bloody well fix it!!!!!!

Some Corrados had a bigger one peice job. GPC can tell which you need from the chassis number. Only snag is, I ordered the last two from GPC a few months ago and VW only had a passenger side one in the country. Hopefully both will have some more by now. You can remove the outer seal and reform the metal strip for a snugger fit. If it doesn't work, replacement is the only option. Kev
