powersteering help i think anyway

when attempting to turn the wheel there is a screeching and the steering wheel sort of jerks round i beleive this is the powersteering pump is this correct?

are they easy to fit and how much are they?

I've got a 1.8 16v pump spare, taken off the car, hot to trot... but I'd be tempted to check the fluid, and possibly replace it before buying a pump.

bought mine for £105 from a local auto shop - Is quite easy to fit if not really fiddly. Before making a commitment to buying a new pump, I reckon you should change the fluid, and give it a good bleeding - helped mine alot before it was time to change, but not quite enough - might be different in your case tho :)Also check the belt tension while you're down there!
