ProdigalSon's G60: MOT pass! *phew*

Recommended Posts

What, you cut the scene with my hand in?!

*stops looking for accommodation on Broadway*

Seriously though, that was a lot quicker that I expected. And I thought we were gonna miss the WRC! :D

A perfect example of how to repair your handle....well done that man :D

Well, almost perfect... Forgot to use a second screwdriver to lever the molegrips away from the handle, so me and Jon ended up playing tug-o-war trying to get the pivot pin out!

The original pics are 4 times larger, in case you want to show the orientation of the 'new style' striker in your (excellent) instruction sheet. And I won't want royalties either

I connected my uprated wiring into the spot (full beam) loom this morning - huge difference, and will soon do the headlights on the other circuit too :D

It's a 'splice in special' I hooked up the headlights today as well, and sorted my cold air feed, and replaced a dodgy fuel hose:

It's good to have a friend with a heated, dehumidified, double garage with a built in pit :D

He has an A-reg Quattro, a new TT and an RS6 8) Sweet collection of cars...

Hmm, I feel that the fact that it's well hidden detracts from its 'pikey factor' - at least I didn't remove the headlight and put a massive foam cone filter in!

One BIG advantage is that the airbox has stopped doing its wob-wob impression of a duff wheel bearing (that was all you could hear after I cut the box but before I fitted the tubing), which was getting really annoying. Also, it does seem to breathe more freely at the top end now, and have better low end torque, and better economy, and it reduces traffic by 108%, and disables all speed cameras within a 10 mile radius. :)

OK, I lied about that last one. It's only a 7 mile radius.

Not yet, my friend, not yet...

I mean "not been in the RS6 yet", rather than "I won't do your lights"!

Could do you a pair of relay upgrade circuits, but it is about £20 in parts and about £280 labour (£35/hour)...

Oh, OK, only £10/hour for mates rates   I can get you the bits, and a clear set of instructions, but it will take a while to prep all the wiring and install it, especially as I'm not sure you have space in your VR6 bay that corresponds to where I have mounted the waterproof box with all the bits inside...

Oh Cazza is still rolling in a candle wagon?

I reckon the Jetta had a better setup than boggo corrado lights, more sepia than your grandad's photo album!

Don't know yet, perhaps a quick blast down to So'ton to - yes, you guessed it - "burn off some fuel contamination in the oil"

Have to check what's going on with my social secretary first, will keep you posted

Thought we'd arranged a mini-meet for the coming weekend :?: :?

Was gonna suggest we delay it a few weeks anyway though, as I've got parents' evenings the following week, so I'll have a fair bit of prep to do at the weekend.

Yes. The mini-meet was dependent on the Burgundy being here, and so we're scrambling to get it done asap - means that we will also have to postpone for now as we need time this weekend to get it sorted... (the reference to So'ton was because there's a guy there breaking a KR that we may need!) Missing two meets within 7 days :(

Let us know about early March dates that suit you (it's your turn to come here, y'know!) Fingers crossed we'll be done and dusted long before then! :)

OK, after about 2 weeks of playing with boost monkey's new valver (viewtopic.php?f=11&t=65658), trying to get electrics sorted and get it running and get the windows up... he has returned the favour and helped me swap out the two remaining engine bay rubber fuel lines :D The hose to the fuel pressure sender had obviously been trimmed and refitted previously, so it wasn't in bad condition, but the send into the fuel rail was a lot worse.

Here's the end that connects to the rail:

Here's the end that junctions with the plastic fuel line from the pump:

Here's the date of manufacture stamped on the hose:

Yes, that's right, week 20 of 1991, so nearly 17 years old!

Glad I replaced them, hopefully they will kill the worrying smell of petrol in the mornings, and let me use the heater without gassing myself :D

Have been running on NGK triple-electrode spark plugs with greater than recommended gap

Now the sparks are back to OE spec

New Bosch W6DPO set installed at lunchtime today (and how very relaxing it is to do car maintenance at work) :)

Quick blast up the road to 'test that they are working properly' (OK, busted, that's about the lamest excuse even I've heard!) and all was well.

Set my diary alarm for 18th Feb 2011, to check them again
