aircon

Recommended Posts

For those of you fortunate enough to have aircon, does it come on when the engine fan trips in? I've recently had mine regassed (very useful for demisting) but as soon as the temp goes above 95 water the a/c seems to come on as though its needed. A wiring issue maybe if its not normal? If it is wiring, where do i look, and what do i look for? Many thanks.

i have to press a button to get mine on, when it is on i notice the engine fans go mad and constantely flick on and off for about 30secs at a go

never comes on without the button pushed in

When I fitted the climatronic to mine I had to splice an extra four or so wires into the fan controller as the relay for the compressor clutch is in there on the Passat VR6 it was originally fitted to. I thought that the Diavia had a seperate set or relays for the clutch but maybe somebody wired yours differently at some time and it could explain why the fan switching on is affecting the aircon?

^^^^^^^

Then I got thinking about it a bit more and remembered I had the Diavia wiring diags on my computer. (I'm sat in a hotel room in Saudi without much to do!).

If you don't have the wiring diagram it's attached here, the compressor clutch and fan start signals are both wired through relay 017019 so if there's something messed up in the wiring there it might be causing the problem?

Mmm, the diagram in not too complex but the operation is not as simple. Any suggestions? Dont know if an aircon specialist would know as its more te electrical side of the cooling system that is suspect.
