Blown 0 Posted November 10, 2003 AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IS there ANYTHING on these bl@@dy cars that go according to plan? I've just spent a good hour on a wee job that should have taken around five minutes-changing the headlamp bulb. The actual bulb changing part didn't take long actually,it was trying to get that feckin peice of bent wire that VW laughingly refer to as a "bulb retainer"back into place. Whoever designed that piece of toilet technology should have been taken outside and given a sound slap around the back of the head and told not to be so damn stoopid. Sorry for the rant but something had to be said before I ended up in hospital with a ruptured vocabulary
Banana Man 0 Posted November 10, 2003 LOL the nearside one is a ba*tard of a job especially with the battery in the way I usually end taking the whole sodding unit out and doing it off the car! Big hands and small spaces dont mix very well :D
Tattie 0 Posted November 10, 2003 Its a damn sight easier to undo the three screws which hold the light in and then take the whole unit out! Thats what I did when I replaced the loom and the bulbs. Tried messing without taking them out first of course! Task Too Difficult!!!!!!!
stormseeker 0 Posted November 10, 2003 Doesn't the owners manual tell you to take the whole unit out to change the bulb anyway???

Supercharged 2 Posted November 10, 2003 Yeah, take them off to do Headlights, just note the wiring if you have an uprated loom and don't touch the bulbs! BTW - the side lights can be got to on the car but a pair of pliers helps to get them out.
