what a difference 2 years can make

Recommended Posts

2 years ago I sold my 2.0 16v to a friend of a friend. It is a K plate with later wings/ grille / bonnet and early interior.

The car was immaculate and apart form the alloys refurbing, needed nothing.

Anyway, it turns out that about 3 months after I sold it, the chap got a company car so the corrado has just been sat on his drive for the best part of 2 years.

A couple of weeks ago I asked him if he would like to sell it to me - he said yes, £1500 and its yours. I said that sound s fine but can you take it for an MOT first to give me an idea of what needs doing.

He did this and obviously it failed on a number of things.

Rear calipers siezed

Rear brake pipes corroded

Hand brake inoperative

Brake bias valve inoperative

4 brake disks - excessive corrosion / pitting

wishbone bushes

4 tyres (tread ok but sidewalls cracked)

plus quite a few other things

general items requiring work include

spoiler keeps blowing fuse

2 cracked fogs

bit of laquer peel around rear side window

anyway - to cur a long story short, a bit of negotiating took place and tomorrow morning he will be delivering the corrado back to me so the work can begin.

All of the above are pretty easy to sort but from memory the wishbone bushes have to be pressed out/in - ant ideas how much this costs ??

thanks

Yeah, better just to buy new ones with the bushes already in. That sounds like quite a nice little project actually. Will be good to undo the neglect of somebody else. Leaving cars to rot is criminal. Especially when it's a rado. :(

Yes it really annoys me cos I know how good it was when I sold it !!

Got it for a good price though and at the moment it is definately too good to break

Roughly how much are the wishbones and where is best supplier ?
