TROOPER88 0 Posted November 15, 2007 Hi I have a just bought a Corrado 1.8 16v in Grey with 37,000 miles, full service history, 12 months mot and not sure what its worth?? It was purchased originally by a lady in her mid 70's and she kept it until now (she's now about 88!). I usually buy and sell a lot of 205 GTi's and the like but never a Corrado and with this kind of mileage, history and keepers I guess its quite unique. Any suggestions would be much appreciated... Thanks Paul
VR6 0 Posted November 15, 2007 Not a huge amount really but it does really depend on condition. If it's in tip top shape you'll be able to get a bit of a premium over the normal 1.8 valver prices. Have a look on Pistonheads classifieds for an idea of price. I really don't have much of a clue about prices nowadays so that's the best I can do :D What did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking?
TROOPER88 0 Posted November 15, 2007 I paid £2100. It is tip top cond thought. Totally original in every way.... Not a huge amount really but it does really depend on condition. VR6 0 Posted November 15, 2007 Problem is that you have to find someone who really wants a valver. Unfortunately the market at the moment means that for £2,500, say, you could pick up your valver with low mileage or a higher mileage VR or G60. Lots of people ignore the extra cost of running the latter two and tend to just look at performance as the main factor.
KIPVW 0 Posted November 15, 2007 i reckon whoever buys it could have a corrado already and fancy it because of its low miles even though its not always a good thing, I have a VR6 and upgraded from one of these and i still miss it ten years on, :( just liked the way it handled and so on. I cant afford another at the mo but if i could then i would want it Lol! imensley underated cars IMO. Kip.

Yandards 0 Posted November 15, 2007 Despite the low mileage I think you may struggle to find a buyer. I say that because a guy on here completetly rebuilt one of the original press cars; engine, windows out respray etc. He spent a fair wedge on it and it looked really good when he had finished. But despite the fact it was a press car he never managed to shift it. Although saying all of that low milege G60s at around that mileage have been seen to go for £4000-5000. bcstudent 0 Posted November 15, 2007 I can't really see it being worth much more than you paid for it to be honest. As mentioned, when you're up against two grand VR6s I imagine you're going to struggle to shift any 16v in that price bracket. You can sell £500 16v Corrados all day long, but the market seems to become a little stale at two grand.
BILLCOR 1 Posted November 16, 2007 Sounds like a nice one, Any Pics? If it was a Mk2 Golf with the mileage and history, you'd probably be looking for 4-5k, which seems crazy, but hey, its a crazy world
TROOPER88 0 Posted November 16, 2007 As I type the car is with a VW specialist round the corner from my work sorting an air/fueling prob. Next week Im on holiday but then prob sell it through e-bay so take a look then. Apparantly the others users on here reckon its not worth that much but we will have to wait and see...... bcstudent 0 Posted November 16, 2007 I think it's like anything else, to the right buyer it may be worth much more than you expect. The problem is finding the right buyer for a low mileage 16v. If I hadn't seen the problems Jimmy is having getting rid of his 16v press car I'd have said £3k+ wouldn't be unrealistic.
skinnyman9000 0 Posted November 16, 2007 I reckon around what you paid for it. Like someone said if it was a mk2 it would be around £3.5k, which is crazy really. There are loads more 16v golfs than rado's, and the rado is generally a better car, yet the valvers are worth squat. Probably because the 16V was the top of the range for the mk2, but bottom of the range for the Rado
