Corrado Gearbox, are they the same as other VR6 Gearboxes?

Recommended Posts

Just a quick question that I cant find results for.

I need to get a new VR gearbox to replace mine, does it have to be a corrado version or can another one be used eg golf, vento etc etc??

thanks

according to a thread i read the other day on cludgti, the ratios in the corrado and passat boxes were different to the golf/vento vr6 boxes.

Apparently there were 2 codes, CDM and CCM. Difference being the final drive ratio, 3.65 for the CDM and 3.39 for the CCM. The corrado had the CDM box and the golf vr6 had the CCM. I think, bit confusing tho lol

My stock Corrado box was taken apart to have a G60 3.68 final drive put in and the FD that came out was a 3.39.

Ask Vince at Stealth, he builds VR6 boxes all the time!

The American Corrado got the 3.68 Final drive because it was heavier and lower powered.

The Euro corrado had no need to have a different final drive to the Golf, especially as it has a higher rev limit than the Golf and therefore needs the taller gearing anyway.

As far as I was aware, UK VR6 Golfs and Corrados always had the same gearing.
