Phil K 0 Posted January 5, 2008 Hello! The Mrs and I want to buy a satnav to share but I'm not overly sure what to go for... I have used a Navman in the past but have always been more impressed with Tom Tom! We'll also be going on a road trip through californi in the summer and it would be ideal if we could get a unit that will include US mapping but having taken a look at the Tom Tom website it looks like you have to opt for the top of the range model to get that - http://www.tomtom.com/products/product. ... ry=0&Lid=1 Any ideas, sugestions or advice welcome 8)
The_Dude 0 Posted January 5, 2008 My mum got the new TomTom for Xmas. I was very impressed with it - very easy to use, clear maps, it shows you the route before you set out and gives the option to change it and it beats seven shades of colour out of my RoadAngel satnav in all arenas. Except it doesn't have TIff Needel warning you about safety cameras! Go for it! Just remember the only gripe I have is the traffic updating works through your 3g mobile phone. The_Dude 0 Posted January 5, 2008 Plus you can download maps from the TomTom website. The olds have a 710 and the US/Canada map is about 70 quid - but they're having a half price sale at the mo so its only 35. If you're going to get one, I think sooner rather than later would be good as the sale ends on the 31st hth
Phil K 0 Posted January 5, 2008 Cheers for the info fella - think that by the time I bought the 710 and then the extra for the US map I may as well just bite the bullet and get the 910 for the extra £26... will probably have to wait until the end of Jan before we get one ordered though so I guess I'll just have to see what the prices are like then! andygal 0 Posted January 5, 2008 if you can get a hold of one from Halfords (which i doubt as thee now obsolete but maybe worth ago) you can get the 910 for £150 or the 710 for £130!!!! Cheers, Andy

mariojoshi 1 Posted February 12, 2008 I'm a Garmin man, myself! They tend to have better reception, better after sales service and a better windscreen mount!
