questions.buying a car from Germany.

has anyone done this ?can somebody shed a light at the bureaucracy side of the process ? and how easy it is to register it in the UK?

Firstly very easy to register here.

Needs UK MOT and valid insurance cert as far as I remember

As for Germany, plates are personal, not with the car, so you would need to get export plates. never done it myself, but have heard it's a fairly straight forward process. There are companies that will help you, for a fee of course.

Living in Germany I find 2nd hand cars more expensive than in the UK - plus the fact that you're going to get a LHD Corrado in the UK, so the insurance will kill you. Believe me I drive a RHD VR6 over here and I get my pants pulled down.
