scarlet_vr6 0 Posted February 14, 2008 Well, since I've been on here over a year and had my car for over 2.5 years, I think it's about time I have a members thread... Mine is a 95 M plate blackberry VR6, which I bought with very few mods. He had BBS RCs (in appalling condition), a Momo Race s/wheel and also added was a sub, amp and 6-disc changer. Other than that, he was standard. In hindsight, I wish I had bought a better one but isn't hindsight a wonderful thing??! I know a lot more now and didn't have CF to fall back on then. I won't ever sell this one, but next time I buy a C, I'll be a bit wiser. Shortly after purchase... 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfCornwall 23-07-05 - 05-08-05 181.jpg[/attachment:2xh5lxbo] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfBosun at Porsche NSF 2.jpg[/attachment:2xh5lxbo] Since then, aside from a few k miles, I've only got around to a few bits and pieces. Maintenance-wise, he's had a bit of money spent - rear beam bushes, front to rear and rear brake pipes, front wishbones, heater matrix, tensioner and radiator have been replaced along with more minor stuff including sorting various oil and coolant leaks....... There have been a few cosmetic changes: FK grille, 90mm chin spoiler, dewipered rear, delocked door handles, clear repeaters, the BBS RCs had to make way for Team Dynamics Equinox as one of the RCs split. I also 'modified' the front bumper and shattered the chin spoiler hence the black bumper. Someone also dented a front wing in a car park (and didn't leave a note) but my replacement is red so it's living on the garage floor until I can afford a respray. The only other change is a BMC CDA. (oh and a CCGB sticker, haven't got forum ones yet ) I owe a few thank yous for help with most of the above... :notworthy: more recently..... DSC00067.JPG[/attachment:2xh5lxbo] I have just about saved up enough for a Magnex which is next on the list, but I've decided to play it safe and wait until after the MOT in a few weeks. Lowering is required of course - I'm getting very tired of the tractor look, but my exhaust is on the way out. In fact, it might be an MOT failure anyway. I'd also really like to change the wheels again. I wouldn't mind the RCs back (in decent condition and not the horrible champagne colour that they were) and at the moment I'm quite taken by the Audi 6-spokes, whatever they're called. There's a ton of stuff I'd like to do actually, but one step at a time...
boost monkey 0 Posted February 14, 2008 Wow, those blackberryies are reeeealllyyy purple huh! Awesome pics. Might catch you at the Ox meet?
scarlet_vr6 0 Posted February 14, 2008 lol, when I collected the car, the guy I bought it from said it was a good thing I'd decided to buy since it's such a girlie colour... Yes, I will be at the Ox meet so see you there
boost monkey 0 Posted February 14, 2008 I know what you mean about 1 step at a time, my 16v isn't actually that much fun at the mo although i'm still taking it round the ring road most evenings! so many parts to change, so little time... :(
scarlet_vr6 0 Posted February 14, 2008 hmmm... time isn't so much my problem, lack of money and knowledge is more like it! Even though mine is far from how I'd like, I can't imagine having any other car as my only one
boost monkey 0 Posted February 14, 2008 I know what you mean. If my loan hadn't come through in Jan, I would prob still have a Mk2 Jetta sitting on the drive! :lol!: I do love it though, I'm not sure I could ever buy a car that didn't need work doing! Goldie 2 Posted February 14, 2008 Definitely suits the RCs,they could look great with a bit of TLC... I know there is loads you want to do to this car and im sure youll get there with time... I woudnt worry about 'what you could have bought', just focus on what you can make it into and enjoy...
ADZ_VR6 0 Posted February 14, 2008 Do u miss the rocco, i wish id kept mine just left it on the parents drive they look cooler the longer i dont own one for, which audi wheels do u want the comps or the 225's. 8)
scarlet_vr6 0 Posted February 15, 2008 do I miss the rocco?? ummm..... yes and no. Given the choice of 1 or t'other, I'll stick with what I've got! I see the rocco (mk1 and mk2) as being cool in the same way as mk1 and 2 golfs are, but the rado is so much more refined, not to mention the power, handling, comfort etc etc etc.............. I would love to have a rocco again but not at the expense of my C. It would have to be part of a fleet of cars!! My rocco did have leather tho, which my rado is lacking. If I could have kept it, I would. It only sold for £150 cos of the accident damage down the side (not sure if the girl who hit me was insured so I got cash and didn't get round to repairing it before I got the rado). Unfortunately I had nowhere to leave it and when I came back from only 2 weeks away, there was a note on the windscreen telling me not to leave old bangers lying around - the cheek of it! I was furious, it's not like it was blocking someone's drive or on their property! What was your rocco like? I like the middle left style, simple (and easy to clean lol). Also quite like bottom left but I wouldn't buy anything until I'd looked for other rados with the same on, done photoshops etc. It's not always easy to know what will look gd. Tbh, I think I'll get the car lowered and a few other things done before I change the wheels, unless there was a bargain to be had somewhere  I also still have 3 RCs so I'm tempted to see if they can be refurbed and try to track down a 4th... audi wheels.jpg[/attachment:2w8a16wk]
KADVR6 0 Posted February 15, 2008 what about these alloys Fay, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Audi-16-inch-Allo ... dZViewItem i had a set of these on my car until last week, and being 16's i had no rubbing issues and the ride was so much more comfy than 17's. they usually go for about £120ish on e-bay. But i was lucky with mine as i paid £50 for mine. karl

The scirocco i had was given to me buy my friend he had got it off his brother and never run it due to lack of money, mainly insurance that he couldnt afford. He inherited some cash, gave me the rocco decided to get a Escort GTI After about a year the gearbox in the escort went bang and i had a company van so when he asked if he could borrow it i couldnt really say no he ran it in to the ground then that was the end of that. It was a silver f plate scala 1.8i only 8 valve and a bugger to drive but it was just different. I completely agree that it wasn't a patch on the corrado but fun in its own right. BILLCOR 1 Posted February 15, 2008 Looked 8) on the RC's but i'm biased :) can the damaged wheel not be repaired? if not, the 3 you have are worth a few bob, probably enough to get you one of the other sets you like

scarlet_vr6 0 Posted February 15, 2008 wow, I'm chuffed to have so many replies so quickly! 8) I know that I'm posting on the Corrado Forum so I'm talking to the right audience but mine is hardly a lovely example  Michael, thanks for the encouragement and I know you're right.. boost monkey, I agree - how boring to have a standard car that you're completely happy with! Would be nice to have a car that was mechanically sound though, so I could spend the money on 'improvements' lol Had the 225 alloys on mine (middle left) but now ive got the comps (bottom right) but not that finish yet.. ADZ_VR6, do you have pics you could post of yours on the 2 diff sets please? I'd be interested to compare them. I have seen both before and know both look v good but think it's the 225s I prefer. My rocco was a scala too but had leather as an option. It was a J plate and helios blue (not black like everyone thought) and the leather was blue too. I really liked driving it but then my first car was a 1l Polo. The rocco seemed so fast! The worst bit about driving it was parking - I always swore it would be easier to carry it into a parking space than drive it. My rado is my 1st car with power steering and I love it. I don't think it's too light, like a fair few more modern cars I've driven. Shame you had to give your rocco back but it seems to have left an impression! I think if I bought another one now, it would have to be a mk1.
ADZ_VR6 0 Posted February 15, 2008 cars at garage at mo i will try and pm some pics to you with both wheels on dont want to post on a thread till the cars all spick and span (sad i no) i liked it with the 6 spokes on that you want and was going to stick with them but i just saw the comps which i couldn't resist as a swap for my speedlines so i had to have them :D
scarlet_vr6 0 Posted February 15, 2008 Love that colour & im not a girl. Not even at weekends anymore!! Great backdrop on the 2nd pic!! Thanks everyone who has mentioned the colour. When I was buying, I had decided it had to be a VR6 and it had to be blackberry. I'd seen a couple around in that colour and just loved it. I would have liked a Storm but (I'm almost ashamed to admit..) the colour was more important to me! I like the way it shines when the sun's on it, sometimes it looks a pinky-purple, sometimes a blue-purple and I like the way it can look really moody in the half-light. As for the background, well I worked at the Reading dealership for a few years. In fact, it was thanks to Zippy that I found the forum. He joined the company, saw my rado in the car park and tracked me down! I'm a big Porsche fan too and was lucky enough to be at the company when the Cayman was launched so I got a free track day as part of the product training! I've also been out in a Carrera GT, what an experience that was... 8)

I'm not bothered about the comfort improving on 16s - my rado is already so much more comfy than either of my old cars (Polo and Scirocco) and it's not often I drive for more than an hour at a time anyway. I'm getting very tempted to sort out my RCs. When I got the TDs, I much preferred them but I'm sure that was because of the condition and colour. My RCs came kerbed all the way round (chunks out of them not just grazes) and they're a sort of beige/champagne colour. They are so damaged that I'm not sure if they can be repaired, I need to take them somewhere to be assessed really. Apparently my split one was beyond repair, but I might have been a bit gullible about that. Whether I was or not doesn't matter, I no longer have it, so would need to buy a 4th and Bill, I don't blame you, I wouldn't want to sell either if I had a 5th! Cazza, yes it will be dropped one day. When I can afford it. Hmm.. wonder what year that will be........
