Cool, I'll look out for that then. Yep it's for the Corrado.

It has forged pistons, HD bearings, inconel valves etc, so is nothing like a stock VR6, hence requiring a good oil.

 

So if Edge is better than Edge Sport, should I be using the 10W/60 Edge for BMW M engines, or regular Edge Sport 10W/60? What's the difference?

It may require a good oil but it does not require an SAE60, your giving it high blood pressure...

 

SAE50 is ideal and there is much better to choose from then the 10w-60. Have a look at the SIlkolene Pro S 10w-50 and the Motul 300v 15w-50.

Not according to the oil pressure gauge. Hot temps are exactly what VW say they should be at their sample RPMs.

 

I might go back to the Silkolene 10/50 then. Don't motul do a 10/50? 15 is a bit thick for cold pumping.

Me too!

 

Guy, with regard to the 300V Motul, what does "double ester" mean?

 

Is there any real advantage to that over the Silkolene's single ester (I assume), or is it just marketing flannel?

 

And what on earth is Edge Sport's "Di ester booster and max hp for 45% longer" all about? :D

 

Silky is better value as it comes in 5 litre cans. Why do the top brands still insist on selling in 4 litre cans?

Motul 300v uses diester and polyolester, the Silkolene use just diester, diester is important one that both the oils contain.

 

Speak to both chemsits and they will argue why each is better, it is very much 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

 

Millers claim to use tripple ester! but so far could not tell me what ester it was.
