After market ecu.

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am sure i saw a thread on this a while ago but I can't find it not. I have been looking on ebay at ecu's for my 2.0 16v. The price ranges from £3.50 to £45. I am sure the £3.50 ones are useless and will do more damage than good but I was wondering if anyone had bought the more expensive ones.

Did it make any difference? I would like a bit more grunt but I am most interested in the fuel economy side.

Don't want to waste £30-40. If anyone has bought and fitted one can you leave some feed back.

Thanks

Sounds like you're looking at after market chips rather than a full ECU.

No idea as to what's hot or not, but would doubt a £3.50 one is going to do much good.

I bought one of the "Powerchips" ones for my 2l 16v. It's actually a pretty decent buy (I got mine for £20). The torque is slightly better low down which is all I wanted really. I don't think the fuel economy is any better as suggested on thier ad but it certainly hasn't got any worse.

I would stay well clear of those resistor module things on ebay for £3ish, they just trick your ecu into increasing timing, as opposed to being part of it like a proper chip and I hear they can cause damage.
