Steves VR6 - now SOLD :(

Recommended Posts

Ordered some Gliptone leather restoration products today so hopefully will get the new interior looking much better this weekend. Even after a good scrub with G101 it looked so much better, I'm hoping to get some good results.

In the interest of keeping this thread up to date;

Having hit a mahoosive pothole and ruined my wheels I am now running a set of d90s, thanks to Bristolbaron for the adaptors, really happy with how they look for now, but they will be getting a full refurb in the spring.

Have fitted KW V1s and new top mounts all round which is already a great improvement to the drive and handling etc.

I have ordered the following which will be going on next week which should hopefully finish it off;

Powerflex front wishbone bushes

R32 rear wishbone bushes

VAG lower ball joints

VAG tie rod ends

Front wheel bearings

The car recently had a full service, and once the above parts are all fitted it will be going in for full geometry set up.

Then time to focus on more power.

Very nice and very sensible upgrades. I like everything about it; well, apart from the de-badged grill but then I’m a purist! :)

Thanks mate. I actually regret selling the original grill, good to be able to change it up once in a while.

Will hopefully have time to give her a clean and get some pics up this weekend - weather permitting!

I dont mind at all mate, thats what the forum is all about. Once i pick them up from TPS i'll let you know.

For now though, Powerflex front wishbone bushes for the VR (PFF85-201) retail at £21.06 each, but got mine for £29.99 for the pair.

Hey bud, yeah I was quite shocked when I put the list together, especially considering how OEM it still looks (but thats a good thing in my eyes)

Next is either more power (forced induction) or maybe sell her. Part of me wants something new/different, but the other part cant bear to think of selling. But its been 4 years now and I have done almost everything I wanted to do when I first bought her, and have enjoyed every second of both the work and driving her..will have a good think first though.

In the meantime I suppose I'd listen to sensible offers.

Cant do it - have mulled it over (and over and over) and decided that for now, for numerous reasons, im definitely keeping it.

Now has 13 months MOT (only needed an ABS sensor which I knew about, and a headlight clip)...prior to the MOT I fitted a new hub and wheel bearing at the front o/s. With that and all the previous work on the bushes, ball joints etc etc she's now driving beautifully. My only frustration is there is a slight knock coming from the exhaust on the rear beam so will sort that next weekend.

Gave it a quick wash today, pics to follow.

Raised the coilovers up very slightly - think its about right now in terms of looks and drivability.
