Timo. 0 Posted November 26, 2003 In my thermostat housing in my vr6 there are three temperature sensors, yellow, blue and black. I do not have A/C so why is there a black temp. sensor (that is used by the A/C). And, there are wires to it!! I am confused. Checked the resistance of it one day whilst I was checking the blue temp. sensor and the black one is bust. Reads infinte ohms. SHould I be worried about this. Thanks for the help sda
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 26, 2003 My non-air con'd VR6 also has those 3 sensors wired up. The blue one is for the ECU to control fuelling, I think the yellow one is for the Idle Valve and the black one.....dunno! Could it be a dummy one like the one in the oil breather outlet, if air-con is not fitted? If you've got access to VAG-COM, try unplugging it and see if it throws a code. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 26, 2003 Isnt the black one for the water gauge on the dash? I thought that too...... Try unplugging them one by one and see what keels over and dies  K
Timo. 0 Posted November 26, 2003 It cant be the water temp on the dash, cos my water temperature works on my dash. I know that the black sensor is dead, as long as the tests for the blue sensor are the same for the black. Not that bothered really, just curious. Isn't that thing in the oil breather tube a little heating element? Sure I read that in Bentley. cheers anyway sda
