VR6 South 0 Posted December 9, 2003 The fuel consumtion on my VR has just plummeted. My usual trek to work normally returns about 30 to 36 mpg, however now as easy as I take it I am at most getting 25 mpg. Any ideas would be appreciated. Performance wise everything else seems ok except that the running temp seems high despite replacing the aux water pump and radiator thermostat. Help... :? h100vw 0 Posted December 9, 2003 If it is anything like my 16V MK3 check your lambda probe is ok. The exhaust is prolly really black and sooty. Not always the probe could be the wiring. Gavin
dr_mat 0 Posted December 9, 2003 Could also be the cold weather. They have to pump a huge amount of fuel in to run cold starts on the VR6... Try resetting the computer during your journey - that cuts out the cold start, and gives you a more instantaneous reading of the current consumption.
