Rado g60 fail MOT on emissions.ideas??

Any ideas of the prob???????? 92 corrado g60 with CAT, standard car and standard boost.

 

 

 

 

 

 

my emissions readings fast idle test:

engine speed: 2450-2850 rpm 2531 rpm pass

co:

hc:

lambda: 0.970-1.030 0.861 fail

 

 

second fast idle test:

engine speed: 2450-2850rpm 2529rpm pass

Co:

Hc:

lambda: 0.970-1.030 0.832 fail

 

natural idle test:

Engine speed: 700-900rpm 863 pass

co:

 

 

Overall result FAIL

You may either have to fit a new lambda/o2 sensor or a new cat.

Try the sensor first.

Depends what month in 1992 it was first registered, as to whether it has to have a cat test. But the CO does look well high. What's the resistance of the CO pot?

I had the same problem when my car had its MOT turned out it was the wires that went to the lamda sensor so it would be worthwhile trying that first.

if its on a K plate you need a new lambda sensor looks like its stuck on rich

if its on a J plate slap the tester as he/she should be doing a non-cat test

I think a lot of tester just do the CAT test if there is one fitted, a little lazy though.

I just got mine through by adjusting the co pot, mine has no cat though
