AND!!! theres a set of electric recaro's in there.......aparently probably he's just meaning the std VW sports seats* but cos they are electrically heated........ *the std VW sport seat uses recaro subframes and often are mistaken for being recaro seats
dr_mat 0 Posted December 10, 2003 I have some pics of the damage done to the car, if anyone's interested. I asked the guy, he said he'd been quoted about a grand to get it all repaired. I'd say that was a very conservative estimate, given the amount of panels that are required (a new back bumper costs £500 alone before you spray it)... Now, where did I put those pics..!!
MikeVR6 0 Posted December 10, 2003 Well parts alone are gonna be well over a grand. Have you seen the price of Corrado body panels  Add to that the actually labour required and you're looking close to £2000 to fix it. Still, if you got it at the right price.... dr_mat 0 Posted December 10, 2003 It needs (from memory, I can't find the pics): rear bumper rear transverse panel (the flat bit with the VW badge in it) rear wheel arch/rear quarter (this is a BIG job) rear hatch new rear light cluster (N/S) and who knows if the exhaust is still ok? If that got hit it might need a replacement cat, or downpipes, or exhaust hangers at least... And I thought the rear wheel arch was actually part of the body assembly and as such cannot be replaced, you can only cut out and weld in a replacement.. Shame, cos otherwise I'm sure it would be a nice car, but that's life eh?
Bally 0 Posted December 10, 2003 it does seem expensive to repair, but the bumper/lamp/rear hatch you could get 2nd.. all in all a person in the trade could buy the car, repair it & probably flog it for 5k!!! my 2p
DaveStorm 0 Posted December 10, 2003 Real shame about that car being damaged, it is (was) a sweet looking motor, really think those wheels suited it :( Hopefully someone can get it back to its former glory! :)
Campaign 0 Posted December 11, 2003 Agree, but if it's a Storm, why's it got Recaro's and BBS Alloys? Should be VW seats and Solitudes.... Wonder if it's registered as being damaged?
jedi-knight83 0 Posted December 11, 2003 the solitudes are BBS i thought?
dr_mat 0 Posted December 11, 2003 It does have Solitudes - the auction states that "the car does not come with the alloys pictured". Certainly in the pics of the "damaged" car there's a nice condition BBS Solitude 15" wheel on it.
