Pete 0 Posted December 13, 2003 I have just been GATSO'd on a duel carraigeway... ONT THE OTHER LANE!!! There is a camera pointing for the oncoming lane with no cars on it and it flashed as I came towards it. CAN THIS BE????? Have I been done, or will it not be possible to prosecute me. Can anyone please advise??? :(

stevemac 0 Posted December 13, 2003 Thought I'd got "done" a while ago by a forward facing camera. Turned out what I saw was just light reflecting off the camera & not a flash.
jedi-knight83 0 Posted December 13, 2003 if it flashed it was a gatso. the forward facing truvelo cams dont flash.... gatso's can only prosecute if there are lines on the rd and are only really effective from the rear. if there were no lines on your side the road your definately ok...if there were lines on your side you've still got a good chance you wont hear anything. I've been flashed when driving towards cams loads of times and i've not been caught once if that re-assures you.
chrishill 0 Posted December 13, 2003 did it flash once or twice? once (IIRC) means theres no film in it, plus i dont think you can be done by a forward facing camera, i got flashed on the A1 near edinbrough over taking some trucks, so i was on the right side of the road for the gatso, but facing the wrong way! if they did get a picture i bet it confused them! "eh? doing over 60 in reverse???"
Pete 0 Posted December 13, 2003 Thanks guys! There were no markings on my lane, and it definately flashed TWICE. I just hope they have taken a picture of an empty road... :?
StormVR6 0 Posted December 13, 2003 If you are travelling at a certain speed towards Gatso's then it can be triggered for a reason unknown to myself. You will be OK though as the camera is only set in a position to accurately monitor the lines on its own side. It measures the distance your car has travelled between the lines on both pictures taken, thus working out the speed. You may well be on the picture taken (if taken) but the police have no way in working out your speed
