Scam?

I've advertised my VR6 on Gumtree as well as here and have been contacted by someone supposedly interested in buying it. However I'm a bit wary as the latest e-mail reads like this;

If you've had to ask, surely you know it's a complete con ..... I don't think I've ever seen anyone ask if something's a scam and it's turned out to be perfectly fine!

I had a guy after my last car (fiesta) he was on holiday and said he will pay by bankers draft, everything was agreed and he advised a shipping company will collect the vehcile. i told him i wasnt prepered to let the vehcile go until the monies had been cleared,

 

thats was the last i head from him. ive heard lots of stories about this thing happening. just watch your self!!

Good advice there. When dealing with substantial amounts of monies always ensure you have cleared monies in a monies deposit account before handing over the car. Or genuine cash monies.

Technically that's not true...cheques should be unpaid before they have cleared or at the most one or two days afterwards. Same with transfers. The only exceptions are fraud (stolen/fake cheques not scams) or if its the banks fault (money gone to wrong account). If its out of timeframe its up to the clearing bank to decide whether the money is refunded or not. Even then, we have to make sure the funds are there before we take the money back out of your account.

So to summarise, if its been over 4 working days since the cheque cleared it is very hard to unpay.

Haha...it only part of what i do but it involves lots of paperwork all over my desk and the floor which enables me to look busy all the time when in reality I'm surfing the web. That's a good job.

Better than trying to sell Korean sh!tpits anyway. :lol:
