deanjames 0 Posted March 2, 2010 So wht are results like anyone running uprated bulbs on the factory loom my lights are so poor thinking of getting some Halfords bulbs as they are on offer at the moment
colinstubbs 0 Posted March 2, 2010 I had 50% bulbs in and had a loom problem so went back to standard wiring, it is utter pants, shockingly bad in comparison, even frightening! I would fit the loom as my first upgrade if i ever had to get another Corrado, then the wipers! 8) 8) 8) Bright bulbs with a standard loom is money wasted in my opinion, why spend £20 ish on a pair of bulbs and then not power them correctly???? :nono: Madness! deanjames 0 Posted March 2, 2010 thats just an opinion though matey i am sure its even better with the headlight loom but there must be owners that just run the brighter bulbs with a standard loom

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted March 3, 2010 As above, the standard loom is flawed but I got so fed up with the unrelaibility of the trimsport one I had that I've pulled it out and gone back to stock... Seriously? It's a peice of p1ss to make a proper 4 fuse, 4 relay loom mate. Doesn't take long either and saves you £50 on switches every couple of years. 4 fuses and 4 relays (1 per bulb) seems a tad over kill, but I like to have 3 bulbs remain working if one fuse blows, unlike some other shared fuse/relay looms that take the whole lot out if one fails. For a nice spec loom, simply get:- 4 of these - http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/170 1 of these - http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/181 Some of this - http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/70 And some of these - http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product_list/2 A pair of head light plugs from Neil It can be built for a lot less money obviously. Even with standard voltage bulbs, a replacement loom makes a difference!
davidwort 0 Posted March 3, 2010 It can be built for a lot less money obviously. Even with standard voltage bulbs, a replacement loom makes a difference! I'm really glad I took the time to build my own (IRO 15-20 quid), although I've now gone to Phillips Extreme 55/60W bulbs from the 100/80's I originally used, the loom has been totally reliable for nearly 10 years and there's no voltage drop compared to the full VW wiring. Do it yourself, take the time to carefully seal and protect every part from the elements and you'll be pleased with the result regardless of which bulbs you fit, standard or uprated. I don't drive much on full beam, but for piece of mind for longevity of the reflectors it's best to stick to standard wattage but higher output, as I think the plastic reflectors would deteriorate far quicker on the heat from 80W dip all the time than a 55W standard or Phillps Extreme etc type bulb. Whatever you do, protect the relays, I've seen far too many tie-wrapped behind the front grille and headlights, soaking up the salt spray :nono:
deanjames 0 Posted March 3, 2010 Hi incase anyone is interested....saw this deal on the web http://www.powerbulbs.com/product_detail.asp?prod=43 Looks like a good deal with free side lights aswell. What do ya trhink? ALSO 10% OFF WITH THIS CODE ( KAFFE1746 JUST ORDERED MINE) JUST ORDERED PHILLIPS FROM THERE
DogaDean 0 Posted March 10, 2010 The loom is the weak link... send current 1/2 way round the car into the switch, which also means the switches fail. Upgrade looms means the current go from Battery straight to bulbs, less Voltage drop. Halfords 50% Brighter bulbs are pretty good... still pull stock Wattage (so no smoking looms) and ae a bit brighter. Used for 2winters.. need to be replaced though... Phillips ?Extreme? are also supposed to be 70% brighter Just remember all bulbs lose brightness over their lifespan... So if they've been in a while replace... i went to halfords and got 90% brighter bulbs and they are brilliant. £20 for both bulbs

corradog60stage4 0 Posted August 22, 2010 there is alot of chit chat on what brighter bulbs to use, but no one posts up pictures of the results for others to see or judge by themselves. well here is my pictures of my 4300K hids installed with 3 relays to power up each pair of beams, high, low, and fogs. post up your philips guys. hmm, what is leaking now? HID on, yes 4300K
greasegriff 0 Posted August 22, 2010 That doesn't show anything! Besides going completely off thread with half a dozen pics of your car leaking, you've shown headlight pictures in broad daylight! :cuckoo: And they can't be that bright as your camera flash went off!
