Brake upgrade keeping 15" alloys?

Get me using the search and resurrecting a thread.

 

Does anyone know the answers to the following. Thanks in advance :)

 

a When upgrading to the 288mm discs can you retain the original splash guards

 

b What is the weight difference between 288mm and 312mm discs

 

c Has there been any proven difference in braking performance between 288mm and 312mm discs
