adwhitt 0 Posted March 5, 2009 Hi guys I need the CV joints and quite a few other bits doing on my VR6. Has anyone got any decent garages that they can recommend in London? Cheers Adam
Danny B 0 Posted March 5, 2009 I know this is a crazy thing to say but you will be lucky !! Every experience I've had of London garages has been piss poor :censored: , hence why I now have a 70mile round trip to The Phirm in guildford.....so if your willing to travel then you wont go wrong taking your car there. Phil K 0 Posted March 5, 2009 I'll second that for The Phirm- wouldn't trust ANYONE else with any of my cars!
Danny B 0 Posted March 5, 2009 I think it was you Phil K that recommended The Phirm to me as I asked exactly the same question couple of years ago
Phil K 0 Posted March 5, 2009 Probably - think that me even be exactly the same answer I gave you then as well  Proves my recommendation was a good one then if you're still using them now 8)
Danny B 0 Posted March 5, 2009 Yup was down there last week.....think we should be getting some freebies from Tim considering all this free advertising :D

The_Dude 0 Posted March 5, 2009 I think I'll be giving these boys a shout at some point too, fed up with my bills having 7-8 hours of labour on them no matter what I am getting done with my present garage.

dukest 0 Posted March 5, 2009 ....yeah The Phirm hourly rate is far more reasonable, just out of interest where do you take yours ? well, it is now £50 +VAT per hour, which is a bit painful when your car is there for 18 hours of work but i certainly still recommend them. The_Dude 0 Posted March 5, 2009 Tuning Werkes in south Croydon...really nice guys (Rueben of Eurotec fame, but he is 100% more reliable than his ex-partner), friendly etc. and they do a lot of internet orders for which they are great, its just the servicing sometimes takes the biscuit. They've usually got quite a few cars knocking about and on some occasions I have booked my car in, taken it down in the morning and then rang them at 5 only to be told, 'oh we haven't looked at it yet'. What's the point of asking me to bring it in that day then? :brickwall: Not sure what their labour rate is, think its about £60p/h maybe-ish sort of roughly. So, in summation - buy stuff from them, just don't get them to fit it! :D edit - I use them cos I work in Croydon so can drop my car off in the morning and pcik it up when I finish, something I couldn't do with the Phirm! Yeah the biggest difficulty with the Phirm, for us at least, is the journey but worth it IMO.

To be honest, (it's probably the cocodomol talking right now) I still have no idea how that work ever took 18 hours....
vwdeviant 0 Posted March 8, 2009 Adwhitt... Where in London are you? I know of a good guy in Hertford, and reasonable too! Trying to find a decent garage in E-london is a nightmare! I used to use a good friend in Oxfordshire, but a close on 200 mile round trip kind of defeats this now! :(
Abdul 0 Posted March 9, 2009 Nirro in Barking are bloody good, proper nice bunch of lads who have been reliable everytime me and my mates use em. Never had to use em yet with the corrado so dont know what they're like with older cars! I cant remember how much they charge per hour but its around 50-60 quid i think... adwhitt 0 Posted March 17, 2009 VWdevient I'm in SE4 so Watford might be a bit far. By brother has a MK2 Golf and took it to 'The Green Garage' in Kilburn. Anyone ever been there? Adam
