As we all struggle to get something more than a yellow light out of the front of the corrado then it usually means we need some new bulbs, clean both sides of the lenses and the reflectors are knackered. Unfortunately VW in their infinite money grabbing wisdom decided that the only way to buy new reflectors was to buy the whole headlight unit at around £200 a side.

 

I have had a chat with a company in the Midlands that carries out refurbishment of reflector units for the new style MGF as they are worse than ours (believe it or not :)) and they will refurbish a pair of reflectors for £80.50 inc VAT depending on the work required. If your reflectors are flakey then the finish will be no good so it would be worth removing all of the flakey material prior to sending the reflectors (this will more than likely come off with just a soft cloth)

 

You will need to strip the headlights down and just send the reflector part (these are fragile so package them well) include an address and email contact info so they can get back to you about the condition and if any extra work is required; the company website is here:

Yes we can re metallise your parts but they do need to be clean & in reasonable condition, if they arrive here flakey and /or corroded the finish will not be that good but you will still be charged for them.

 

Cost per pair is £70.00 but if extra work is involved I charge £35.00 per hour in ½ hour increments.

 

If you decide to proceed please send the reflectors to me for evaluation and I will email costs back. I will require payment by return of email.

 

Prices are ex works (not including return postage) & do not include VAT.

Yeah my desk usually ends up with the fiddly stuff being taken apart on it, means I can look at ETKA and the workshop manuals are in reach too.

Ex Works I have found normally means price collected i.e without return carriage, etc,

Ah, will amend the original post to reflect that then (No pun intended :roll: )

 

Dave, not too sure, although given its the same sort of stuff applied to the VW front and rear badges it might be do the job, drop them an email or give them a ring and I am sure they can give you an idea. Their website page does say they can apply the process in a variety of finishes, satin/matt are listed as options. The only snag I can see is that you might loose the black edging but its better than a faded badge..
