exhaust heat shield clips

Recommended Posts

Had an annoying rattle every now and then coming home from work today had a look above the exhaust and noticed that the spring clippy things that hold the heat shield near the tailpipe have gone through the heat shield resulting in it rattling on the exhaust. All i want to know is where to get and what the clippy things are called?? Are they readily available??

Cheers

Jon

If you mean the little circular spigot ring things, then they are:

N 90335004

clamping washer

5X30 /

Hope this helps,

Jon.

Are these available in another metal type? (isn't the "going thru" caused by the 2 metals reacting with eachother?).......

IIRC the shield is aluminium, and those washers are steel.......and "eating" through the shield...;)

My heat shiled rattles a bit in the mornings ie when the car is cold and only on revving it slightly. Is there any kind of packing or wadding that can be used to stop this, in addition to the clips? Of course it needs to be heat resistant.

Had this with mine...

Problem being is that the Ali shield's probably been eaten through to size of the clips...

Solution... Silicon Tie Wraps!

My Rear most one had gone so I tied it through the "Body mount" (bit they use at the factory to move cars about) next to it... been over a year like that and all's good!

Now I've said that... watch it break :norty:
