fitting aftermarket speakers in orinigal door pods!!

Recommended Posts

hi,

basically ive just brought some JL audio front speakers from my local JL audio dealer, they are 5.25in or 130mm.

Took the door card off removed the original vw speaker, went to put the JL one in and realised it dont fit, its ever so slightly smaller than the original so it wont fit on to the four pegs :mad2: has anybody had this happen to them with aftermarket speakers and how did you get around the problem?? i would understand if i payed a tenner for them but i paid 90 quid for them :cuckoo: :mad2:

surely if i order a 5.25in front speaker for my car it should fit surely!!!! :(

any help and advise i would be most grateful

regards

chris

VAG-hag put some aftermarket speakers in his C & iirc we had to do a certain amount of surgery to achieve a fit. If he doesn't see this - give him a pm. :)

i have boston acoustics 5.25's in the front std holes in mine and as i remenber i had to do a bit of surgery to make em fit .

im sure i put sound deadning around the hole which closed it up enough to fit snug and stops the whole thing vibrating like mad too

hope this helps a little .
