Walesy 0 Posted May 19, 2009 Being able to use a mechanic that owns a Corrado and has an interest in them, is pretty much worth it's weight in Gold tbh
g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted April 16, 2013 Being able to use a mechanic that owns a Corrado and has an interest in them, is pretty much worth it's weight in Gold tbh  great point made! i use the mechanic which my family has used for 20 years if i cant do the job myself - my parents brought the 2ltr 16v rado he had many moons ago james28 - volks wizard is up by the maypole island near birmingham. my gf brought the storm he had up for sale a few weeks ago & it is in superb condition. he was a very nice bloke, has done some great resto work on rado's (lots of details on his site) & has owned many himself. in fact the white vr6 he had when i visited him he said he plans never to sell i have no personal experience of his quality of work or costs but i will definitely consider sending my vr6 to him if need be :)

Erallus 10 Posted May 24, 2013 I'll be giving DG a call soon I think, fairly close to me. They look like a good garage
Portent 0 Posted May 24, 2013 Do many people go with independent specialists nowadays rather than main dealers? I wouldn't take my Corrado to a dealer for servicing for two reasons; Firstly it will be out-of-control expensive, and secondly a good specialist is more likely to have knowledge of the Corrado. My local dealer knows my car because of the parts I buy but I don't get it serviced there.
Billzeebub 1 Posted May 24, 2013 My local VAG Dealer is handy for parts, there are a couple of great guys on the counter who are VW enthusiasts. They are very tenacious when searching for parts and always give me a decent bit of Club discount. I wouldn't go anywhere near VW Dealer Service dept though. Most haven't even heard of the car..use a local VW Specialist in Dorking for all routine servicing, anything more specialised I would take the journey to Midlands to either DG Autotech or Stealth Raciing
scarlet_vr6 0 Posted May 24, 2013 Despite it being a 250 mile round trip for me, all recent major work on my Corrado has been done by DG Autotech. Always been nothing short of delighted with the work done there but it is quite a trek for me, so having spoken to John at Stanford Hall, I will be going to John Mitchell Racing in West Sussex next time. Agree with others that the dealer is useful for parts and discount, but not a chance that they're getting their mitts on my car!
MoonlightVR6 10 Posted November 15, 2013 Ahh man I think DGAutotech are going to be a bit too far for me, will give them a try anyway. Can anyone recommend anyone in n/w london area?
