Ok mines mapped, so I get more turbo noise and a big DV makes good noise for me. Ok the noise isn't as good as my VR6 was, but power delivery is great! I dont want a car that can do 120mph whilst feeling like it is only doing 70mph :shrug: As you say though horses for courses. I'm with you mate. I'm not biased as I have a 1.8T aswell and it really is a horridly bland engine :D To be fair though, not many 4 pot engines are bristling with character.
