ziderapple 0 Posted July 1, 2009 Can anyone suggest where I can find some affordable car storage? It does not have to be fancy, just somewhere I could park my car under a cover where it wont get damaged. Needs to be fairly cheap, in an old barn would do. Cheers. ziderapple 0 Posted July 3, 2009 Will need it for around a year I guess, possibly longer, was thinking circa £5 a week, 10 max, I have found a place that does it for £17.99 a week but thats just too expensive. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just off the road, secure and undercover.
bristolbaron 10 Posted July 3, 2009 when is it you're going away? I'm not sure how quickly we'll get ourselves sorted, but budget wise it's so far looking to be around £40-£50 per month per car, so at the top of your budget. However, there will be 2 of us regularly using the unit, so it'll be regularly checked on.. whatever we look at will be at least a 1 year lease, so that would be fine time wise. ziderapple 0 Posted July 3, 2009 I'll be gone by the 1st of Aug, if your not ready by then I could get someone to bring the car round. Let me know when you have more details and know the exact cost. I'm going away tonight and after mon I may not have internet access for a week or so, not sure yet. Thanks.
MonkeyVR6 0 Posted July 11, 2009 I'm also looking, (unless my mate takes my car on) for someone to store my car from late Aug 2009 till Dec 2010. Are there any risks from storing my car so long without it being driven?

Are there any risks from storing my car so long without it being driven? Not really if you take a few precautions: like over inflating teh tyres to around 50psi to avoid flat spots, spraying the brake disks and calipers with hairspray to prevent corrosion, leave some bags of silica gel to absorb any moisture drain teh pertrol down to as low as possible - it goes 'off' after a while Turn the engine over without ignition to coa most of te surface with 'lay-up' oil There are other things too, just cant think of tehm yet. I think RW1 put a comprehensive list up some years back. Worth looking for.
