Helios Blue 1990 New MOT!!

Recommended Posts

Its been a while since this was updated, must post some pictures once its had a little clean.

I took it in for it's MOT this week, which is the first one I have had with the car so always gonna be pricey. no let down on that front!

Since October last year I have done 9,500 miles of very enjoyable miles in it and it has not let me down, even long trips to wales over hot summer weeks!

I knew that the brakes needed doing so I had the full discs and pads renewed. The guy I use for big jobs like this was agodend, the carriers for the rear brakes were rust welded in place, there was a lot of swearing, heat and frustration but they eventually shifted. In for the MOT and it failed on a driver side ball joint, so no problem there, all fixed. Did a quick oil change and it was back sreaming down the M55 again today! Most importantly my PAS belt doesnt squeal embarressingly making me look like a tool whenever i'm in a car park, making my girlfriend want to disown me (as much as she love steh C also)!

It feels like a new car again and I love it despite the fact it has just cost me £530, which lets face it could have been a lot worse.

I need to add some pictures as since my last update I have added a few new bits and found some new problems. Firstly my windscreen has developed a leak from the top, which some black tape is currently sorting until i can get out with the black silicon sealer.

I have added inpro angel eyes purely for the fact I couldnt see at night, not to everyone's taste but they have grown on me also, and they do look cool when lit up.

I also got some really good G60 BBS wheels with great tyres from ebay, which add a look of OEM aboout it. Slight refurb on them myself but a weekends work and they look good as new.

I have also replaced the inner sunroof trim as mine had become tatty and the yellow foam stuff kept falling on me all the time, £15 on ebay, good as new.

I have also added a simple sub to the boot, which will be integrated into the passenger side boot section at some point when i stop being lazy!

Loving the corrado nearly a year later!

I will post some pictures at some point soon!

Long time since an update here!!

I definitely need to give it a clean and get some pictures up. Since the last pictures over a year ago, a little has changed. I have fitted G60 BBS's which I refurbed myself over a weekend. I sold my old ones on to Big adam, who was a nice bloke off the forum, with a nice C.

I have also fitted an alarm immobilisor which is linked to the central locking. This was great over the winter as I didnt need to de-ice my locks to get in with a key!

The best bit is the fact I can see at night. I got some LHD ABT angel eyes off the forum and converted them, which was a very easy job. Although not to everyone's taste, they have grown on me and more importantly I can see at night!! This coupled with my homemade waterproofed uprated loom (with twin fuses), it really is a recommended job to do.

I need to get the car in shortly to have what I think is a front wheel bearing (annoying hum from 40mph ish onwards which varies with whether i turn right or left) and also probably the thermostat is stuck open - I get cold air when the heater is on whilst stationary and the car runs normal temp when in traffic and cold when on the motorway.

The best bit is that my ebay steal black leather interior is arriving next week! Should be good and also I will have a standard black interior (as per the pictures in teh thread) to go should my other prospective taker fall through. I will add this to the classifieds if required.

Well, final update is that the valver has gone. Needed something more reliable now that the mini is coming for resto end of the month. The mini is my moneypit not the rado! My spare car is gone!

Loved driving fixing and the fun and bad times with the rado. Should hope to see it around somewhere, sold it to a garage in wigan in part ex for my C4 Loeb. He has sold it on already.

Farewell to the dub, but will probably be back someday

Shame you chose a mini over what seems to be the only Helious Corrado in existence, but we all have our own ideas I guess.

The Mini has been with me for longer, 10 years now! Much more fun to drive (believe it or not) and actually quicker! Also cheaper!

I just hope it has been sold on to someone on here! No one else seemed interested in buying it, and it needed to go
