G60 engine

No live suggests that the fuel pump relay is kaput, or your wiring conversion has not covered the fuel pump. Did you change the fuel pump wiring? As for lumpy, that will be a number of things, did you change the timing belt, change any of the sensors, did you see engine running before conversion? The list is a little endless on this one. You need to get the car drivable and see how it goes.

 

When I did mine it started, revved OK but when I drove it, it was as flat as a fart. I changed the lambda as it was a universal one. Once I had the bosch one installed it was fine.

ive extened a golf g60 rear loom,ive swaped the relay?no timing belt,sensors,yeah did c engine running b4,thats good 2 no bout the lamba,did u get it from vw?how much?

Well you can check whether it is your wiring or the relay by bridging the contacts in your fuse box. If you pull the relay out you will see 2 large spades. Get a bit of wire and bridge the 2 slots in the fuse box where those spades go. If it runs the pump it is the relay thats fooked, if it does not then your wiring is in question.

 

As for running lumpy, you need to check your lift pump is running too. That is where I would start.

In the fuel tank, there is an access hole under the rear seats, 3 screws secure a plate

also if it is running lumpy, check the vac hoses. Have you checked the 1m vac hose to the ecu? Is it on the right nipple on the throttle? Should be mounted to the one that is after the throttle butterfly so that it measures the boost the engine is getting.

Hi mate got it running beta 2day,rev counter not working,where do ur breather hoses 4 the ecu and rev counter cum from?and wots the easiest way 2 take off the charger belt?

rev counter wont work until you wire it up direct to the coil. At the mo it feeds through if ecu. Look at the green wire on the coil, then find the wire at the back of the fuse box. Basically take a wire direct from if coil to the fuse box. Vac hose wise look on the bulk head side of the throttle body to see the two nipples

ok mate cheers isit a green wire im lookin 4 on the fusebox?and where abouts on the fusebox does the wire i need 2 run from the coil go ? where av u got ur breather 4 the brake servo coming from?

The green wire goes into the back of the fuse box in the engine wiring loom. Not sure which plug it is in, got to do this myself still, got used to driving without the rev counter though!

 

Vac hose for brake servo comes off the front of the air inlet manifold

Ok mate wot av I gota do wiv the green wire wen I find it?and where av I gota run the new wire u told me 2do,from the coil 2 where in the fusebox?my servo cums off the 1 on the throttle body will that work?

you will have to find the wire, it is part of the engine loom. Same colour as it is where it connects to the coil. Just cut it at the fusebox end, and crimp a new wire that goes direct to the coil. Simples. I am not sure about your servo pipe connection, its not the normal place, it might work but you would be better off having it where mine is as that is factory position.

ok mate so if the wire that goes from coil is green,then the 1 in the fusebox will b 2 and i need 2 crimp that wire and run and new wire from it 2 the coil,is that right?

ok mate so join a new wire to green wire in the bk of the fusebox 2 the coil,and then the rev counter will work.

and did u av 2 do anything to make the water level sensor work?

That's the idea, not done it yet myself but that is what I understand is true. On an 8v Golf the wire is red and black and does not go through the ECU.

 

Not sure about your water level light, if it is plugged in it may be that the sensor is foobard, as I used the original loom at this point.

Just to be clear on the rev counter wiring, you need to splice the new wire into the green wire, if you just cut the green wire your car won't run as the ECU needs the feed from the coil. I found this out today when I wired mine up.

ok mate will giv that ago nxt time i work on it,got it running much beta,swopd the vac hose 4 the ecu 2 the uva nipple,for sum reason im missing the nut that goes inside pully on the alternator,not sure how 2 tighten the nut up as the pulley spins,on the spindle there a allen key bit in the middle bt i cnt get a deep enuf spanner in there,any ideas?

Get the right sized socket on there, put the allen key through the middle and clamp the socket with a good set of mole grips. This should at least get the nut reasonably tight. You might need to find someone with an airgun to do it up dead tight.
