JonnyVW 0 Posted August 25, 2011 Just went through all 20 pages. Hats off to you mate. Wasn't a fan of the Campaign interior at first but love it now!!! Love your dedication...need to apply some of that to my C. Looking forward to the engine bay updates....
Butterfly 0 Posted August 25, 2011 I was going to enquire about a new dipstick tube at VW. Bet you'll know if they're obsolete or not ? They weren't obsolete 2 years ago when his engine bay work was done... can't say for now though.
James. 9 Posted August 26, 2011 I was going to enquire about a new dipstick tube at VW. Bet you'll know if they're obsolete or not ? They weren't obsolete 2 years ago when his engine bay work was done... can't say for now though. Been to VW today for a few bits. Dip stick tube still available: £20 plus vat. Think I'll paint it for now and if it offends me then purchase a new one. Struggled with a part number for the alu heat shield. It sits behind the manifold and protects the brake lines. About A4 sized. Anybody have a clue ?

James. 9 Posted August 27, 2011 Its 536 803 312A . Thank you oh kind oracle. I found the three to choose from along with the exploded diagram but it didn't look quite right. Either way the parts obsolete so another for the (ever increasing) refurb pile !
RW1 0 Posted August 27, 2011 I don't that will get taken up as "536" means its UK/Japan rhd. .

RW1 0 Posted August 27, 2011 Interesting Pat as its not offered by Germany. Just test some other parts that I know Germany aren't being made/sold and they show as part and price. .
Pat_McCrotch 0 Posted August 27, 2011 There's a girl called Laura who seems quite helpful. Can drop her an email about it if you want James? There used to only be about five 536 parts on there last year but they seem to have got allot more on there recently. Could be that it's in production? RW1 0 Posted August 27, 2011 Old VW(UK) MK stock is my guess. .
James. 9 Posted August 27, 2011 The last price on the system is £77 plus the vat. Thanks for the offer. I'll see how I get on with a refurb, as with a bit of patience it should turn out okay. Seems that every time I visit the dealer for a part that I expect to be dear, it's cheap, and vice versa. Just bought some disc brake shields and they were £6 each ! James. 9 Posted September 2, 2011 (edited) This weeks update is brought to you in association with the letters P + C. More importantly, Powder Coating Had a raft of the underside stripped back and powder coated in satin black. All carried out c/o Ian and his team at North west powder coating in Chorley. Belting set of chaps. Affordable, did exactly what I wanted and quick to boot. Going back with the rest of the brakes and other trinkets in a few weeks. Here's the website (can't recommend them enough): http://www.northwestpowdercoating.co.uk Powder coat porn for those who get off on this kind of thing: In the mean time, off to fit some bolts and rubbers. James. 9 Posted September 2, 2011 Cheers Andy. Just given the manifold a second coat (just before the compressor packed up). So I'll have to borrow one from work next week for all the other bits. Really happy with the finish.
