Toad 0 Posted December 15, 2009 I think they would be awesome if they didn't make the car floppier. The original windows are a tw@t to remove though, so they must have some effect on stiffness.
yalan 0 Posted December 15, 2009 I've always drawn parallels between the corrado and Audi coupe of similar vintage. Turns out the S2 coupes were almost always fitted with fixed rear windows but there was a super expensive option to have electric pop-out windows from new. Parts are very rare especially in the UK but make a top mod. http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25307
-=Kris=- 0 Posted December 16, 2009 Really, i wouldnt have thought glass would be that much benefit towards strength? Aye, you'd be surprised mate! Ever driven a Corrado with a new windscreen where the glue hasn't hardened fully? You can feel the car flexing a bit. Not as bad as an Escort Cabriolet scuttle shake-tastic kind of way, but definitely floppier than usual.....like Walsey's c0ck after a night on the tequila.... great line! but yeah i know what you mean... has the windscreen replaced in my car not that long ago and it really felt odd for a day or so... the jelly-mobile... I'm not a fan of the pop-out rear windows anyway...
C488ADO 0 Posted January 1, 2010 when you remove the rear windows there is a lot of metal consealed behind the black surround.............. the rubber would have to be weird as hell and somethign strong to pull it back in ....like on the old saab 900's why not go the whole hog and make them electric!! cab style
corradomouse 0 Posted March 3, 2011 Really, i wouldnt have thought glass would be that much benefit towards strength? when i was in college, on a vehicle body repair course, my tutor taught me that a bonded windscreen provides 30 per cent of the shells rigidity, maybe the quarter glasses are the same?
