A5 VRX 0 Posted August 22, 2010 I prefer cloth to the leather, have the Recaro leather in mine but cloth does look great. Nice Corrado, need to clay bar mine when i have time Adam
kerrly 0 Posted August 22, 2010 that is stunning, the paintwork has come up really well!! i have to say the recaros are quite special and are by far the comfiest seat i have come across but those S3 leathers :luvlove: its a tough call. dave
harryc 0 Posted August 22, 2010 Cheers guys, clay bar is definately worth it. Its amazing how much crud it pulls off the paint and the finish is incredibley shiny and smooth
Jim 2 Posted August 22, 2010 Agree with the others. Keep the factory recaro's. Nice bit of rare OEM goodness - would be a crying shame to rip them out and stick in some leathers from another model!
A5 VRX 0 Posted August 22, 2010 I agree with Jim, i would be over the moon if mine had the cloth as standard more than leather but not sure i would want to start pulling things out and swapping interiors, the cloth is great and looks (IMHO) alot better than TT leathers etc AJ
Portent 0 Posted August 22, 2010 Another vote for keeping the cloth recaros. If you do swap then go for standard or recaro leather rather than seats from a different model. The recaros look great and I think you would regret changing to non OEM seats.
harryc 0 Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) Got all the bodywork finished, pics of the work to follow! Edited February 9, 2011 by harryc
harryc 0 Posted February 13, 2011 Im having horrible second thoughts about selling the vr for an s3....Im worried i'll miss the rado once its gone the same way i regretted selling my mk2. Do i spend the extra money on the vr that i was saving to spend on the s3?! Test drove another s3 today and i wasn't blown away, we spent more time talking about my vr i drove there in. If i end up staying with the vr i would spend around 2k on performance parts, perhaps a diy turbo kit or vortex.... Im so confused now!!
harryc 0 Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) Right i've started looking into turbo parts after speaking to kev :) Bought; ARP head set Buying; Spa manifold tial 38mm wastegate Downpipe 2mm decomp plate My mate has a new emarald m3dk kit he's offering me for £500 as well so im thinking of having that off him (depending on how much the kit is new). harryc 0 Posted February 22, 2011 I've paid for the manifold and other bits listed above including the 2mm decomp plate. Slight complication with the arp's as i accidently ordered standard ones..... I've been looking at turbo choices, im thinking a gt35-35 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130433938032&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT or a T04s like stealth use; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Garrett-Journal-Bearing-full-60-1-aka-T04S-Turbo-/130375608707?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e5afde983 Im also trying to decide between a liquid/air charge cooler or a fmic and doing some more research into injectors and management. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 23, 2011 If you don't want the added complication of water lines, I'd get the T60-1. It's a nice turbo :) Definitely get the 3" V band option whichever one you choose as it makes installation and maintenance a lot easier / neater. I'd perhaps go for the T4 0.70AR exhaust housing, or T3 0.82. Air-Air intercooling is cheaper, but laggier and not as efficient. PROPER water/air costs a lot of money but is very effective. Each has it's pros and cons. Quite a few OEs use Air-water intercooling these days, Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar to name but a few.
harryc 0 Posted February 23, 2011 Thanks Kev, I've also been offered a Garrett T3 60-1 0.86AR as part of a deal with most of the other parts i need; Front mount intercooler Connecting pipe work ( you will need to modify your slam panel ) Bailey dump valve External wastegate pipe ( vent to atmosphere ) Oil feed pipe Oil drain pipe Modified fuel rail with Simens injectors ( believe they are 640cc if not 680cc ) LC1 Wideband ( again will need wiring and calibrating ) Will at T3 be too small? CazzaVR 0 Posted February 23, 2011 Glad you've decided to keep it- stunning car! A turbo'd VR will be sooooo much better than an S3 :-) You've made the right choice.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 23, 2011 Thanks Kev, I've also been offered a Garrett T3 60-1 0.86AR Nice :) External wastegate pipe ( vent to atmosphere ) Illegal mate. Modified fuel rail with Simens injectors ( believe they are 640cc if not 680cc ) Will be the 630cc. A popular and very decent injector :) Will at T3 be too small? Nope, far from it mate. harryc 0 Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) Ok will go for all the above and hack up the w/g pipe so I can plumb it into the down pipe. Has anyone had any experience with this turbo? As i've told kev via pm i am trying to get all the parts needed for under 2k, so far so good will probably end up being a few hundred over once i start picking up all the niggly bits like gauges. New rear discs arrived today and they look so nice compared to the old rusty ones! Picking up the new rear bearings from vw tomorrow as well. Can anyone recommend me some decent pads for front and rear? Edited February 23, 2011 by harryc
