Bolster 0 Posted February 7, 2004 From another thread: ... along with the odd whiff of unburnt petrol (mainly from VERY cold starts), so none of these things is unusual. Just the way it is. Does anyone know where the petrol is leaking to give this smell or is it just running richer when cold? Is this a CCP (Common Corrado Problem)?
andycowuk 0 Posted February 7, 2004 its common on the G60, the rubber pipes on attatched to the fuel rail and fpr perish and leak. I dont know if u get the same thing on the VR but to elliminate this possibility the best thing to do will be to locate ur fuel rail and fpr, then when the engine is cold (so u can see the petrol, without it evaporating without a trace) turn ur ignition on and check the fuel rail and FPR pipes. If it is this, just cut a 1/4 inch of the end and replace the jubilee clip if required. Of coarse if any peeps with a VR give a better answer, go with their opinion!! Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 7, 2004 Yeah agreed with Andy, VRs suffer the same thing. Usually trimming a couple of CMs off the ends of the fuel rail hoses cures it, with some new clips. A couple of other common ones on the VR are the carbon canister hoses (the airbox rubs on the black one) and the blue frequency valve bolted to the strut tower under the MAF. Check all these hoses and joints are secure and tight. And also, where the fuel tank vent hose (clear) joins the termination point under the brake servo. Ka` 0 Posted February 18, 2004 Heya, I don't want to sound dumb, but what exactly am I looking for? I get a whiff of petrol every now and then, and I've seen a clear fuel pipe mentioned... Am trying to see what pipe I should try to trim... Can anyone supply a picture within an hour? Help GREATLY appreciated! Am waiting for the engine to cool down atm, and will prime the pump and so on when I have someone to look in the engine bay when I start the engine. UPDATE: Don't worry about this one, have found the relevant pipes. Cheers, Rica
