luke w 0 Posted July 26, 2010 The headling on my sunroof has come off, and the headlining on the surround is peeling away. The sunroof panel itself is easy to do but the surround bit that slides back is going to be tricky. Is there a way of removing this from the car, or will i have to drop the headling down to get to it?

streetpreache47 0 Posted July 27, 2010 Good news, NO NEED TO REMOVE HEADLINING. I had exactly the same problem and so I bought a panel off ebay but repairing can be just as easy once it is out. Here is the plan: - 1. Tilt the sunroof up, and you will find that the headlining panel is only clipped to the frame, 2. push/tilt the central headliing bit upwards and gently push the outer sunroof headlining frame backwards as if you are pushing the sunroof into the open position (i.e. into the bit between main roof headlining and the car roof. 3. Tricky bit, once the panel is pushed back most of the way, rotate it slowly (a small juggle) through 90 degrees and then slide out towards the front of the car and out of the recess into the cabin. This was literally 2 minutes. From now you can use some spray adhesive to repair your headlining. Refit is the reverse of the removal. Just ensure that the small clips clip back onto the main sunroof frame. This makes much more sense when you look at it on a real car

This makes much more sense when you look at it on a real car I had a quick look at this method and couldn't get my head around how to do it, it's probably as easy as you make it sound but it confused the hell out of me! I think I'm just going to drop the headlining a bit and do it like that.
streetpreache47 0 Posted August 9, 2010 Which bit is confusing. I will try and take some pictures when it stops being like the mid atlantic!
ben_wooduk 0 Posted August 9, 2010 Have a look if the headlining panel is screwed the the outer panel, mine was. Can't get a screwdriver on them, I used a socket set
streetpreache47 0 Posted August 10, 2010 My inner panel wasnt screwed at all, and it is not loose. The panel which I put in didnt have any evidence of being screwed on. The metal clips i think were screwed on but these dont need removing. My car is a 1990 16V with early interior if this makes any difference. If anyone is in lancashire I will have a look for them. _Meth 0 Posted September 25, 2010 I havent got any pics but did manage to do mine the other day. Basically, the easiest way to do it is to slide the surround and panel back into the roof. the surround will dissapear into the roof and the panel will pop up outside the car. Push it back as far as it will go, and you will be able to see 3 screws that hold the panel on to the surround. They are a B*stard to get off but can be done. When these screws are out you can pull the panel off from outside the car. At this point you can twist the surround 90degrees to pop it out inside the car, or for ease (what I did), remove the 4 screws / bolts that hold the top metal panel of the sunroof on and lift it off. Then you can simply slide the surround panel out the top. Its very confusing first time because you cant see anything, or how anything works. Once you have the sunroof panel out it all makes sense :) I now have camo rooflining :D
