holeinmk1 0 Posted February 21, 2011 Well, after the recent break in, the new door is now painted and on the car, however, i'm not 100% happy with the paint, so i'll be taking it in when i get a few other jobs done, the central locking pump appears to have given up, and delocked handles make getting in to the car a hard work! my n/s front tyre has picked up a puncture(amazing that considering its been parked in a garage!), on the plus side, i did get the headlight surrounds and grille repainted as well as the rear badge and roof strips which look fantastic and really bring the car up, especially the front. Also started undersealing the car, happy to report that i'm finding very little rust, and i think i might have a go at a home brew wheel refurb to. I am missing driving Betty though, completely skinted myself getting the door painted and sorting out handles etc, still have an alarm system to pay for to and now a puncture to sort... :( Anyway, hopefully have the old girl back motoring again soon. Tom oh and the front spoiler did act like a snow plough over winter :)
coullstar 0 Posted February 21, 2011 Stop it man!!! Im really wanting a silver one at the moment.
rado mc 0 Posted February 21, 2011 looks great, not many silver ones about. i feel your pain with the heater matrix, mine went twice. a lot of diggin for a 5min swap over. First time slow leak, 2nd.. boom and splatt instant internal fog many flashing lights and a hot foot. when i asked about it app there was a vw recall in the early days due to pressure building up too much in the matrix bursting them, mine missed it hope yours didn't too. Diesel Junior 0 Posted February 26, 2011 This is one of my favourite Corrados, they always look good in silver - especially with those rear lights. Good luck with the car mate.
holeinmk1 0 Posted February 28, 2011 Cheers for the comments, yeah mine went boom! splatt! It is a ridiculously fiddly job for what it is. Getting there, off to sort the puncture out this afternoon. my central locking has gone... checked the pump, fuses etc. but no life. at least i can lock the car the old fashioned way! holeinmk1 0 Posted March 5, 2011 Can't sort the puncture as the rim has been welded in the past which is were its leeking from... tyre fitter reckoned a pothole had probably jarred it causing the leek, in short it has to be properly refurbished and welded :( I did get to take the car out for a spin on monday, which was great(despite being limited to 50mph, stoopid space saver!) reminded me why i bought the car, i'd go so far as to say i was as excited about taking the C out as when i bought her! insurance is due soon, £397 for the year which i'm very happy with. Hope to be (properly) motoring again soon! Tom
holeinmk1 0 Posted March 19, 2011 Well, i went to pick up the replacements for the BBS, i found a set of Rota Slipstreams. The pics on ebay did'nt really show just how curbed they were or the amount of lacquer peel on them, So i've spent the last 2 days cleaning them up. First i got rid of the curb marks, then the nasty peeling lacquer, all they really need now is some paint in the centres(and some new centre caps) and they'll be ready to mount on the C. These are as i got them; This is after some TLC:smug:; Pretty happy with the end results, i've mildly polished the lips, but i'd need a machine polisher to get a deeper shine.:thumbleft: Tom
SIMONG 0 Posted March 19, 2011 good to see your staying positive Tom with all the recent hassle you've had and now your getting back on track! wheels should look pretty good when when, you'll have to bang some pics up.
holeinmk1 0 Posted March 19, 2011 Cheers Simon, Hoping to get the toyo's popped over from the BBS asap, then at least the C won't be on that stoopid space saver and i won't catch my front any more!
holeinmk1 0 Posted March 27, 2011 Tyres swapped over to the Rota's, Don't think the Rota's have anything on the BBS personally, maybe that'll change when i repaint the centre's/get some spacers to get them sitting right, but right now think they make the car chavvy. But they're at least better than some wheels i was looking at. Anyway, would appreciate you guys n gals comments on them(i know the car looks high in the pics, the wheels sit about 1-2mm off the coily strut, any lower at the back and they would catch on the adjusters, so spacers are desperate really!) Heres a pic of the offending weld on the BBS, the good news is the other 3 will be an easy fix, but this one i'm not so sure it will, and how long before the potholes ruin the weld again? :( Also found on the inside of the BBS, the original price tag of 1,825 euros(back in 2001,i think) Tom
holeinmk1 0 Posted April 16, 2011 BBS are being sorted, the 4 pieces of jap crap currently residing on my corrado will soon be back on ebay(or in the bin...). Honestly these have been the worst set of alloy wheels i have ever had the displeasure to own. I want MY wheels back! Tom
James. 9 Posted April 16, 2011 BBS all day long.

Wild-Animal 0 Posted April 16, 2011 Hey, my company do alot of alloy wheel repairs, as a blacksmith a wheel secailist comes to us for T.I.G welding, in all cases its the same as your alloy they crack from the outside edge in. When a new alloy costs £1500 each then a repair is sometimes a nicer choice, as far as I am aware we have not had any problems from the repairs. holeinmk1 0 Posted April 16, 2011 The BBS shall soon be back in there rightful place, picking up the previously welded alloy on monday and then its off for a spit and polish on all 4. Tom ---------- Post added at 08:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:09 PM ---------- oh and to top it all, i've now got a f*&%ing puncture, great big p£$!ing b&*$ard 3" screw stuck right in the centre of my tyre! Kempy 0 Posted April 16, 2011 Ive not seen a diamond silver, looks a lot like my satin
holeinmk1 0 Posted April 16, 2011 always thought it was satin silver but we parked it next to another satin silver at a show and the colour on mine was darker and was told it was diamond silver.
Kempy 0 Posted April 16, 2011 can you lower the rear a tad? it'll look cool then ---------- Post added at 09:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:12 PM ---------- what code is it
holeinmk1 0 Posted April 18, 2011 LP3G I think,(i'll have to check) but it is definitely diamind silver, used to have a mk1 golf GX in the same colour, still had a touch up kit which has proved useful! BBS first, then then sort the stance out methinks. Tom
SIMONG 0 Posted April 18, 2011 still need to get over and get that door at some point Tom.
holeinmk1 0 Posted April 18, 2011 Hi Si, been meaning to get in touch with you, I got you a drivers side piece of glass to replace the one on the car. Tom
SIMONG 0 Posted April 18, 2011 nice one dude, saves me hunting around for one, found a few on here but postage on glass is bit of a problem. might go to "unphased" on thursday if you fancy that? if not can meet some point next week over the bank holiday etc as im off all that week. holeinmk1 0 Posted April 18, 2011 Its gonna have to be a weekend mate or maybe a week night, just started a new job. I do need to strip the door that the glass is in, probably won't get chance to do it until the weekend now. Could definetly sort something out for next week/weekend though if thats any good for you? holeinmk1 0 Posted July 24, 2011 Well the corrado is officially dead, i say officially because shes been sat round the back of my house for 3 weeks with me thinking it would be something simple, as the engine was getting spark and i knew the timing was right, i figured it was a fuelling issue, alas a compression test today revealed some woeful figures with every cylinder seriously down when tested. at least i can now rebuild her as i always thought the engine let the rest of the car down. anyway a very nice R.A.C man (possibly the nicest R.A.C amn in the service) came to my house and gave a betty what i suspect is possibly her last journey on a public road for some time, down to my mum and dads garage. I can't help feeling oddly gutted and at the same time quite cheerful in an 'every cloud has a silver lining' sort of way. So i am now in need of some form of transport, quite tempted by a mk2 scirocco as there (relatively) simple and (relatively) cheap, can't help but want another C though and a goodun comes up locally i may well be tempted.
