changing a starter

the starter on my 1.8 16v kr has been playing up,ive got a new un on order and am wondering how hard it is to change.cheers

It's one of the easiest jobs to do ! 10 -15 minutes max, i didnt even disconnect the battery,just make sure the main starter lead is tied out of the way,

Don't suppose it's as simple on a G60 is it? I need to do this soon as the solenoid has gone on my starter

id disconnect the battery,sods law what would happen if it didnt. :shock:

easy on a g60 too alex.just bit more fiddly with boost pipes and fan in the way but just as easy

err, don't forget to support the engine, the starter bolts hold the front engine mount bracket on!

be gentle, put a lump of wood between the jack and the sump :)

bit of a faff, but it might be easier to put the front of the car on axle stands under the front sills/rear subframe mounts first and then put the jack unde rthe engine, that would give you easy access to the lower starter bolt from underneath then too.
