Joe M 0 Posted February 21, 2004 So did mine, and its black. :-P
Ka` 0 Posted February 21, 2004 And I think the newer Basslink Xs are clear blacks now. I must've gotten my Basslink from the same place as well, I am looking at a 360W Autoleads kit :) Cheers, Rica
Jim 2 Posted February 21, 2004 Sorry - went out after posting those pictures. Well as for the 6x9's, leew wired those in so I have had nothing to do with the fitment of stereo gear in the car! :) But I put some 6x9's in my last Corrado and just pinched the cable off the old speakers that sat in the back too ;) There is just the hooky side ot the velcro attached to the feet of the sub, and it grips to the carpet pretty well... seems to be a pretty common method for securing subwoofers in boots to be honest! :)
jedi-knight83 0 Posted February 21, 2004 i did think about it myself...but i didnt think the sub was heavy enought to stay inplace. i imagined it bumping up and down and side to side
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 21, 2004 What sort of sound do you get from these BassLink things? I wouldn't mind adding some good vibrations into my motor but I can't be doing with half a tonne of Handy Andy's MDF. I'm liking the passive radiator....very efficient but does the bass go low? I'm not expecting seismic bass, although that would be nice, but is there good depth and volume at motorway speeds too? Cheers K
Henny 0 Posted February 22, 2004 I just fitted mine loosely today to check that the unit works, and I can testify that these things ROCK! 8) The bass seems to be really tight, punchy and accurate with no hint of distortion no matter what I threw at it... I'm well happy anyway! 8) I also got the remote level control with mine (yeah, as well as the free wiring kit!  ) but I've used the wiring that I put in for my old 1K amp so I didn't need to do much wiring anyway... The main thing I've had to do is rip out lots of old wiring (including my nice silver speaker cable :( ) to install my new TV system properly... 8) Just a quick question though, have you guys mounted yours upright, or as Jim's is in his car? I wanna save as much space in my boot as possible (other things going in there yet! ;) ) so I want it upright, but I'm not sure if it'll stay putt with just velcro if it's that way up... :? Henny 0 Posted February 22, 2004 Poser :D Moi? 8)
Phil K 0 Posted February 22, 2004 Um, am I right in thinking that the Basslink has it's own amp and is enough to suppliment 6x9's running off the head unit? I have some infinity 6x9's running from the head unit and these are loud enough IMO but I could do with more bass as it looses quite a bit once on the motorway... If this is the case, how much are they? I have a 4 channel alpine V12 amp that need's repairing (approx £150) and an infinity 12" sub that could go in but I'm not too keen on losing all my boot space so would go for one of these if it's about the same price as getting the V12 fixed... Ka` 0 Posted February 22, 2004 Phil K, I don't know the answer to your question, but this is the same setup I am planning to install. I have Infinity 6x9s powered by Kenwood HU on an MDF shelf from Auto Acoustics and think even by themselves, they rock. What I need is to be able to add the low oomph to the bass and am hoping the Basslink will handle this just fine. I think I paid £160 for mine It's even cheaper now!! --> Basslink from Car Audio & Security. Cheers, Rica

Cheers K Kev, i will (fingers crossed) have mine installed next weekend so if you want to have a listen give me a bell. the bass wasnever powerfull enough to blow ear drums at 10 paces....but inside the car it sounds great..and its small which is the best thing!! im not runnings any 6x9's so the basslink provides all my bass. Mines in the same as jims. I reckon it would fall over if it was upright if its only velcro holding it. Wheres everyone got there bass controler, I took mine apart and mounted it in the blank beside the headlight switch. 8)
Henny 0 Posted February 22, 2004 Right, well, after going to Dubfreeze this morning, I got my ass in gear this afternoon and completed putting my interior back into one piece! 8) I can safely say that the Basslink ROCKS! 8) I've got standard fit 6x4 JBLs in the rear and standard fit JBL components up front, and there is MORE than enough bass if you crank it up, and enough volume to drown out any noise outside... 8) I've got the head unit powering the speakers with the Basslink's active amp being fed by both sets of RCAs off the head unit (FL,FR, RL, RR)... The really nice thing about this unit is that it's got high level inputs too, so you can plug it in as a speaker if your head unit hasn't got RCA outputs... 8) It's definately on a par with the 12" boxed sub I used to have in the boot powered off a 4x400W amp... 8) My remote bass controler lives in the center console cubby hole now, just below my 3 gauges... 8)

Cheers mate, I think that would be wise before splashing the cash! My Pioneer has all manner of sub controllers, so I won't need the remote level model? It's also 4V preout so should be quite punchy at low-moderate volumes  K
jedi-knight83 0 Posted February 23, 2004 http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/product_info.php+products_id+1538 wow, kev if your looking for one, this looks really cheap. Mine was £250 about 2 years ago when i bought it.
Phil K 0 Posted February 23, 2004 Thanks Ka` sounds like you have a very similar set up to mine - I have a Kenwood head unit too. think the built in amp is very good and gives a good full range of sound... At £144 for the Basslink I think I'll be spending my cash on one of these 8) Will anyone with one of these be at No-Rice? Would really like to hear one... Henny 0 Posted February 23, 2004 That's where mine just came from... 3days from website to car boot... 8) And you can't argue at that price! ;)
jedi-knight83 0 Posted February 23, 2004 i could buy another one to go next to the current one!!! 8)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 23, 2004 £144! Sounds excellent, I wonder if Infinity are about to supercede it, hence the low price? Am I right in thinking I can just use the Head unit filters instead of the Basslink's onboard electronic X-over? I just need to boost the 40-60hz frequencies as these are the ones that get drowned out by tyre roar.

Sling it on full range (for the unit!) and then use your head unit to do the filtering... 8)
jedi-knight83 0 Posted February 23, 2004 pass..... im not into the technical stuff...just what it sounds like. i use the phono cables from the back of my sony head unit and i can control the bass and treble from the head unit and that makes the sub sound different...then you have the controls on the actual sub, gain, crossover and bass boost i think
jedi-knight83 0 Posted February 23, 2004 i see i was beaten to it.... if you get your cables in place you can always hook mine up in your car to test it. you've been pretty helpfull to me so i can return the favour.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 23, 2004 Cheers dudes.....not sure if I can bothered to run a cable to the battery though, I hate lifting carpets and trims! I'll have a listen to yours next time I'm in Cambridge Jedi and make a decision then!
Henny 0 Posted February 23, 2004 not sure if I can bothered to run a cable to the battery though, I hate lifting carpets and trims! What's this? From the master of small (yet very good ;) ) modifications?!? Kev? You're slipping! :-P
jedi-knight83 0 Posted February 24, 2004 i've had an idea for those how want to mount it upright to save boot space...i am yet to test this though so its still in the *dumb thought in my head* process mount it upright running paralel with the boot wall, using the other set of feet (that you would do if you were mounting it laying down) stick it to the boot wall aswell? either that or somehow strap it to the boot wall somehow?? I went out and got the velcrow last night but it was too cold and dark to bother messing around outside. I'll give it a go when i can but the idea (in my head) seems to work
