Portent 0 Posted May 8, 2012 It's a lovely car. I almost bought this back in August 2010 (I think) from the previous seller. The inside was really in superb condition at the time and the history all checked out (it had the same plate on too, which is why I recognise it). I'm pretty sure it had around 95k or 97k on the clock back then. I remember being quite surprised just how new the inside looked including the original tape head unit :) Unfortunately despite a several hundred mile trip to see it and agreeing a sale, the seller backed out of the deal a couple of days before I was due to collect it. It did need some attention to the bodywork (just a few scratches and a couple of rust spots on the arches, nothing major) but overall it looked a really genuine, great car and certainly one of the better ones I saw at the time. It's certainly worth viewing if you're in the market for a Storm. ** note: I'm not talking about this nsmjl02. I'm talking about the previous seller. MikeVR6 0 Posted May 9, 2012 Lovely car. Sorry you have to sell. Good Luck!
nsmjl02 0 Posted May 9, 2012 Guys, Thanks for the comments, I've had a couple of bites via the forum but no offers as yet.
nsmjl02 0 Posted May 11, 2012 Guys, Now on Gumtree but would definately prefer to see it go to someone from here so that I could track it's progress.
nsmjl02 0 Posted May 17, 2012 Still for sale ! I have had a couple of people showing an interest but no offers as yet. A forum sale is still my prefered option.
STORM 2 0 Posted May 24, 2012 I would love to, but I've run out of space - I could hybridise a green and blue Storm...maybe swap the interiors...
nsmjl02 0 Posted May 24, 2012 Storm 2, Thanks for the bump. Still not had a single viewing as yet but I'm not in any great hurry so just going to wait and see what happens. I don't really have the space long term to keep her and to be honest I think I would rather see someone finish the job I started anyway. Someone will want a great history Storm sooner or later! nsmjl02 0 Posted June 14, 2012 Guys, I pick up my Storm replacement later on today and I need the space. There is a good car to be had here. I've had a good few e-mails but not a single viewing as yet. I do have to report that the ABS light has now switched itself on! which will have to be sorted by the new owner. Portent 0 Posted June 14, 2012 I'm not sure if you have a proper advert anywhere but it might be worth putting one up here and on Pistonheads and Auto Trader (sorry I haven't looked to see if it's on there). Also I would suggest getting the ABS fixed. When I was looking for a car I would disregard cars with faulty ABS because it could be a number of items and would be an automatic MOT failure. So you'll either reduce your potential market or get someone knocking you down on price. It's probably just a sensor that needs cleaning or replacing but a buyer might be worried it's the control unit or pump (which is possible but much less likely). Really surprised this hasn't sold yet. I guess your location doesn't help. Never been a problem for me to travel but some folk think a 50 mile round trip is too far, deepest darkest Aberdeenshire! The current economic climate doesn't help either. Have you advertised it locally? There seems to be a large Corrado following in your part of the World. Stick a notice in the car window and advertise in the local rag, local car forums both VW and other. I'll second what Portent has said about the ABS. It will put buyers off or they will seriously knock you down in price. A quick go on VAGCOM will likely reveal its a sensor. Plenty of info on those on here. Sometimes just cleaning the sensors clears the fault. The Corrado ABS system is a nightmare. I had to have the entire system removed on my last VR6 due to electrical gremlins. Personally, I would just keep it as a weekend hobby. But I have some kind of mental problem when it comes to these cars :)
KipVR 1 Posted June 14, 2012 I have noticed that the forum tend to use the title "stealers" instead of "dealers" and I guess with good reason but my thinking is that these guys probably do know these cars better than most Unfortunately you comment above couldn't be further from the truth. If I were you i would take it to someone like Stealth or DG Autotech, there work is far better rated than any VW dealership. Obviously your selling though! nsmjl02 0 Posted June 15, 2012 Thanks guys, I do have it advertised on Gumtree (it's free) but genuinely would prefer to see it go to an enthusiast and thought that someone from this site would have snapped it up. I am open to offers. Not sure about the site rules on advertising but I would be happy to offer a really good rate on our holiday let property up here in Ballater if someone wanted to tie in a viewing with a couple of nights away. http://www.propertylovie.co.uk
C5 OEM 0 Posted June 15, 2012 really not a great time to sell, monzablue`s storm on here sold for 3k and had full engine rebuild....
nsmjl02 0 Posted June 19, 2012 C5 OEM, I think you might be right, just seen the one posted for 2650 and sounds pretty good. If this is really all they are worth I'm probably just going to end up keeping mine, it's too good a car to lose at that kind of price! Just need to find some space. nsmjl02 0 Posted July 2, 2012 Guys, She's back on the road! Booked in to specialist cars on Friday for a service and to see about getting this ABS light fixed. I'll keep you posted.
nsmjl02 0 Posted July 6, 2012 Guys, That's her back from the dealers and thankfully the ABS issue was just a sensor. Cost for the replacement sensor = £160 (parts and labour) Cost for a minor service = £140 (major service last time)
nsmjl02 0 Posted August 17, 2012 Guys, The Storm is now being used for my daily 50 mile round trip to work and still a great car to drive. MOT due next month and will keep you posted on how that goes.
KipVR 1 Posted August 17, 2012 Congratulations on the fix, good to see another back on the road!
nsmjl02 0 Posted October 2, 2012 Guys, Quick update. She has just sailed through another MOT. As mentioned before I'm now using the Corrado as my daily driver and what a drive, but there are a couple of little faults starting to appear! 1) The spoiler is starting to squeal when lowering. 2) The sunroof doesn't slide anymore and only tilts. As much as I'd like to spend the time and cash getting these fixed, along with bringing the bodywork back to it's former glory, she's thrid in line I'm afraid and may have to just soldier on for a while longer as she is. nsmjl02 0 Posted October 3, 2012 Guys, I hit a deer tonight, poor thing. No damage to the bodywork but now need to find a replacement passenger headlight and indicator, has to be very good condition. Cheers
nsmjl02 0 Posted October 14, 2012 Guys, That's another 90 quid for an indicator and headlight. I used to feel sorry for the deer!
VWVW 1 Posted October 14, 2012 Oh Deer :) It could have been a lot worst. Looks like an easy fix with just the headlights and indicators.

nsmjl02 0 Posted November 13, 2012 c5 oem, It's doing a fine job as my daily runner now but the front of the house is like a car park so could still be tempted if it was going to a good home.
