Robbo149 0 Posted February 26, 2004 Hi all, I'm thinking of replacing the tappets on my 93 VR6 (100k) next time It gets a service, as they're getting a bit noisy. How much of a job is it ? & is it worth doing anything else at the same time ? Cheers guys.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 26, 2004 Tappets is all you can do keeping the head in situ, but you can check the condition of the upper tensioner whilst you're there. Be sure to replace the manifold gaskets with new VAG ones. It's about a 3 hour job + 12 x £6.00 I'd do an oil and filter change at the same time to ensure the new tappets get new oil in them.
