Recommended Posts

Do you need to wipe it down at all or lterally just take off, spray with carb cleaner, put back on? Forgive my ignorance!

I took mine off, sprayed WD40 into it, gave it a shake and was amazed at the crud that came out. Did it a few times till the WD40 stayed clean. After the deed was done the exterior was also clean as a result of the WD 40 going everywhere. 20 mins max from bonnet opening to bonnet closing.

Okey dokey, seems easy enough. Would carb cleaner be better suited or does it really not matter?

Carb cleaner is good, Isopropyl Alcohol is better.

What I did was;

Fill ISV with IPA. Give it a whizz round with a toothbrush, spin mechanism with toothbrush handle, empty.

Refill ISV and seal overnight.

Empty next day and be amazed by quantity of dirt and metal particulates that come out.

Re-lubericate ISV with light machine oil.

Notice scratches and chips inside ISV.

Buy new ISV.

Job Done.

There shouldn't be any metal particles inside the ISV! If there are then the motor is f'cked and allowing the blade to make contact with the ISV body.
