What sort of car do you have??

On the VR6 there is a Cam sensor (on non dizzy models) , a crank sensor (known as the Vehicle Speed Sensor) and one on the gearbox that feeds the speedo.

Sorry...it's a vr6 93!!

It had diagnostics on it and came up with 3 faults....

Maf...been replaced

Engine speed sensor or the lambda so I'm starting with the engine sensor first.

Whats the problem with the engine? was it scanned with the engine running?

It has problems at idle and then cuts out but drives fine, engine wasn't running when it was tested

Clean the throttle body and check for air leaks would be my first port of call.

Waste of time changing it then?:-(

Scan with engine running, doesnt hurt to give cam position sensor and ISV valve if your having stalling issues.
