Kevin Bacon 5 Posted March 6, 2004 "VW says it doesn't make sense to continue to sell the 160bhp G60 when the revised 16V produces 150bhp" That's typical VW thinking. Stuff the customers that enjoy the torque and power delivery of the G60! 150 bhp? In the Golf maybe but I thought the Corrado 2.0 16Vs were 136bhp? Jim 2 Posted March 6, 2004 If they'd have just accepted that the G-Lader needed maintainance, and included it in the service schedule, then they could have continued to sell G60 powered cars. Though I guess that would have required additional training of their technicians, and a whole new load of problems such as the time it takes to strip and rebuild a G-Lader. Shame really. CazzaVR 0 Posted March 7, 2004 Yeh, it is a shame :( Apparently VW were going to give the 16v the same 150bhp engine as the Golf, and they were also going to improve the V6- can't remember exactly how- more valves maybe? They shelved all this though when they decided to discontinue the model :( Muppets!
Jim 2 Posted March 7, 2004 There were supposed to be so many different models.. even thought that there was supposed to be a 4WD version? Shame it never came to pass really.
