Kevin Bacon 5 Posted March 6, 2004 Just changed the oil in the VR box and am curious as to what the actual capacity is supposed to be! I let it drain on flat and level ground until there were no more drips (from hot). Then squeezed in some fresh oil and it started pouring out of the filler hole, indicating it's full, after about 1.5 litres.....I've always been told the capacity is 2 litres? Think I managed to squeeze about 1.75 litres in there but I don't want to create too much pressure in the box by over filling it. Any one else found this? I drained out the Redline MTL as it's too thin and put some Quantum Synthetic 75-90 in there. Only £6 a litre from VW. Cheers K

CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted March 6, 2004 It will be that level if it was a dry (new) box ,then it would take 2 litres but you will never drain all the oil as it collects in areas that would count for the half a litre ..

Henny 0 Posted March 6, 2004 yup... I normally mix 1L of synthetic, and 1L of semi synthetic gear oil and then add about 1.5Lof the mix to the box whenever I change mine... I'm guessing I'll be putting in a full 2 litres on Wednesday when I finally get my box back from Stealth... 8) I'll let you know just to confirm the whole 2 litre thing... ;) 8)
