Sunroof failure

Recommended Posts

I was admiring the one electric device still working on the car on Sunday, of course it decided to break.

Anyone got any spares for a sunroof mechanism or any tips for broken bit?

Years ago ive spent days and days trying to fix the sunroof on my g60.... Still the same...

The best thing to do is buy a repair kit from vw and replace the mechanism... Its a bit of a job, done it on the vr6 2 years ago and its working great...

Ill get you the part number if you want but be ready $$$...

I dont remember how much... But I can find out today.

The repair kit is just for the sliding operation....

If its not tilting any more then you going to need some more parts, i'll try to get the images from etka today at work but I can only post back around 6

What year is yours?

There are 3 parts each side for the repair - one kit will do both sides and comes with the cables - then there is a water guide at the back and a sprung arm assembly at the front. I can get you part numbers for the lot later. You should also invest in a tube of the VAG "special" sunroof lube - have a search and you will find a couple of threads on it.

Ok:

Repair kit with cables - includes both sides and is sometimes all you need

1 x 1H0898014A

Rear water guides, left and right:

1 x 1H0 898 019 - repair kit

1 x 1H0 898 020 - repair kit

Front spring arms, left and right:

1 x 1H0898018A

1 x 1H0898017A

Special lube:

1 x G 000 450 02

No idea on sterling prices as I got them here in IReland in euro, but probably cheaper and all still available.

Hope this helps/
