G60 charger ..would it go with a bang!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Okay so sold my raddo, perfectly fine, nice bloke or so it seemed, gear linkage had just gone 3 days previously, temp fix by the AA to get it back home, buyer came, saw, drove it onto back of a lorry and took it away.

Now get a message saying it was the charger and not the gear linkage.

Trying to tell me that the linkage was fine (was cable tied to keep it on) and that it was the charger which had gone.....saying he has taken it out to send to a specialist to check ....now not having had any experience of a blown charger...........and the fact that only 3 days before and the same day he collected had driven it with no issues...............what would actually happen if the charger had gone?

Am I right in thinking that you would not be able to drive it?

Would it make a right mess of the engine bay?

Is this bloke taking the p**s.......because I am a woman?

Had the car for 6 yrs with no problems.....same day as it sells charger breaks!!!!!! I dont think so.

My G60 Corrado blew the charger, went with a bang and then a clatter, major loss of power but limped home. Not really much he can do to you as he bought as is no warranty with a private sale

Now saying he did a boost test and there was no boost hence taking off the charger (as he said it was dead), assumed that to do a boost test would have to be red lining it and at a decent speed slightly impossible with a dead gear linkage, think maybe he was sitting revving it up and playing with the MFA...complete tosspot....not going to get anywhere doing that, bloody muppet. Has not said how he did the boost test, I am not going to ask just yet? Will wait and see what he says next

Threatening me with legal action now, claiming I have 'clocked' it.....twaddle

Bring it on matey

Sounds like he might have buggered the charger, not really anything he can do like I said, If you buy a car no warranty given or implied. As for clocking you have to have concrete evidense before you accuse someone, even then did the ad state the millage was 100% genuine. With a multiple owner vehicle you can never really be sure on this.

A bad situation all round, only thing he can do is sort it and chalk it......to experience.

Yes. Private sale = sold as seen = tough.

Don't waste any more time communicating with him.

Agree with the above, an unfortunate situation but the car is 15+ years old so I'm afraid he has to take it on the chin.

just making me feel ill, I had her for 6 yrs no problems at all, he's messaging me constantly with court threats, saying he has taken the charger off to send to a inspector, claiming I knew it was gone (rubbish), he started the engine, it sounded like it always did......and same when he drove it onto the trailer.

Have told him to bring it on, have nothing to hide so if he wants to go to court then do it

I would report it to the phone company as harrassment, and possibly the police too. Tell him that, and say you will only communicate further in writing. He'll soon get the message that you aren't going to give in.

Is he local or a safe distance away?

I'd be sending this in a recorded delivery letter to him:

Dear xxxx

Re: VW Corrado G60 registration xxxxxxx

I absolutely refute any allegation that I misrepresented the car prior to sale. I will state the facts below:

1) This was a private sale with no warranty offered or implied. It was xx years old. It was sold as seen.

2) At the time of sale the supercharger was, to the best of my knowledge, working correctly.

3) As stated in the advert and as discussed during the sale, the gear linkage was faulty. This was confirmed by the AA who are entrely independant in this matter. The gear linkage failure occured three days prior to sale and therefore the AA had investigated the fault just prior to your purchase. They made no mention of a supercharger fault to me and there was no reference to a supercharger fault on the AA worksheet.

4) You viewed and inspected the car prior to purchase. While the car could not be driven, due to the gear linkage fault outlined above, your inspection included starting and running the engine for a period of time. You had ample opportunity to identify any faults including an opportunity for a professional inspection had you so wished.

My position on this matter is clear; the car was represented correctly and, to the best of my knowledge, the supercharger was working correctly at the time of sale. Had it been faulty at the time then I was certainly unaware of such. I am not a professional mechanic. You inspected the car to your satisfaction and removed the car after agreeing the condition and completing the sale. No warranty is offered or implied with a private sale. Should you wish to take this matter to court then I am happy to defend my position and am confident that I will be found in the right. Additionally, the constant phone calls and text messages must stop. These are now amounting to harrassment and I will take further action if you persist. As this may potentially result in legal action all further contact must be in writing and I will not respond to phone calls, texts or emails.

Yours sincerely,

xxxxxxxx

Charger can go with a bang if the little timing belt snaps. But as above, if he paid for it and took it away its his tough luck. I hate people who do this, when buying a car privately I look on it that it is my resonsibility to find any faults with the car before I buy it and if anything goes wrong afterwards its my tough luck.

Inky dont let him scare you,he's just using scare tatics into trying to get his money back.

He knows its his problem,he took the car away. What he does after the sale is HIS problem.as you said he checked the car and was satisfied hence took the car.

Prob showing off to his 'mates' and blow the thing.

Did he ask to see charger history? If he didnt ,hes a plum and desevered it!!!!
