My Helios Blue G60......

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

been away for a while, this is my third g60 now, I roamed into the world of Honda Vtecs which i still love for reliablilty and performance but....man.... i missed that supercharger noise so had to get another one,

When i got this it had been parked for 6 years and needed a new wing and front bumper so i got some items off ebay, i then treated her to a full respray and im happy so far....

Engine is completely standard at the moment and it was owned by a lady :-) , charger has never been done so will be next on the list....

i need a front bumper bracket as its not sitting right yet....more pics to come soon....

So few more things before i start cleaning her up...had to get a new windscreen due to a huge crack, car flew through the MOT after this :-)

At the moment the engine is completely standard with 104k and runs great....however the charger has never been serviced so I think thats next, im tempting to leave it as boost is spot on but think id better get my self down to G werks asap to be sure.

I wanted to keep her oem but a set of bilstein shocks and 40mm konis got me so she sits nice, what do you guys think of the rims?

got 4 wheel laser alignment done.....and a trip to volkwagen resulted in the purchase of lots of new nuts and bolts, near gear knob, brand new 90mm splitter and a various bits. so more pics soon....

That is a VERY smart looking G60, nice buy!

104k miles and no service on the charger though! :suprised: I'll be very surprised if you get very good boost at all tbh. I'd get and check the charger hoses for oil if you have a free min... if you don't find oil then I'd be very surprised!

Otherwise I think it looks spot on! Are you sure that she's on OEM shocks? she looks spot on in terms of drop... or is it those wheels that's making it look that way.... I would swear you should have a good 2 inches above the tyres to the arches.

Its a great colour that, one of VW's better colours. My G60 had 89k miles on the original charger when I bought it, I ran it till about 105k then my brother did till about 120k. No issues at all.

Good choice of wheel as well.

cheers Coullstar, cool, if they are driven correctly, i.e warmed up properly and not redlined i guess they are fine, this is my 3rd G60 and ive never done a charger service on any and they've been 100% reliable although my previous two had 60k on, regret selling them really. I think ill get it done for peace of mind though!

Ahh sorry misread your second post!

Coullstar - That's amazing, do the OEM seal and bearings out perform the new ones then or is it just never same once you start to dismantle the charger? 120k is a little more than recommended 65k  !

Volkswagen made to charger as a sealed unit never to be serviced i believe so aslong as regular oil changes with moderately sensible driving is done, i believe they are infact very reliable, I once spotted a mature dude (old guy) in a g60 and asked him if he'd ever had the charger done, he looked puzzled and said my local vw dont do that, he'd had it from new and it had 128k on the clock on the original charger, i believe he still has it!.

makes you wonder why folk with stock chargers spend £400 every 30-40k to fix the charger when you could get a new one and have 120K miles of blissfully uneventful driving!

Those Seats are PURE porn...

did you get them done yourself?

Edit: BTW... do you know the OEM part number for the gear knob?

Hey Alex, ill grab the number for the gearknob later.....

The seats were off my mate, he got them of someone who only put them in for shows, so they look brand new! i think mj interiors may have done them..

forgot to mention i fitted TT pedals too...

Top work mate, love the colour.

Like the way you have gone back to the original grill :thumbleft:

Cheers Danny, trying to keep it looking reasonably oem, hence the grill and original rear lights and indicators,

Lowered it 40mm and thats about it, the engine is staying standard i think :-)
